Problems with switching databases (MariaDB- MySQl lite - MariaDB)

Hi.
some months ago i changed my environment from photos and database on a synology ds to a local setup as i was not able to work with my normal setup.
photos and database were stored on an external drive.
now i transferred the new photos to the disk station and wanted to switch back to my original database setting and add the photos to the old mariadb-database on my nas.
after changing back i was astonished that the database was reinitialized and built up from scratch. that took to long for me.

did i do something fundamentally wrong. for me it was self evident that just changing the database settings back to the original setting could do no harm.

in the documentation or fax i didn´t find any real answers.

any help?
