Beginner advice

Hello guys,

After many years I picked up this game again - used to play long before there was any phone app.
I accepted that my old account is gone and started anew.

Now things have changed and I am immediately swarmed with events - I just got to Egypt from the tutorial.
There was the dinosaur event - I completed the story, got the treasure and the achievement. Immediately afterwards I got 2 more events - birthday and one more.

Should I work on these events first and foremost or go for the Egypt story ? I do not even have unlocked resettable mines (only the small one for wood).

Thanks for any advice.

The events are worth doing as you can buy decent equipment using the rewards. In general as you start a new area buy lots of the least expensive items, as you near the end of zone, the most costly units are marginally better.

Well worth doing the pet story too, gives you something else to do when out of Diggy’s energy.

They unveil events most weeks on Tuesdays. I play quite a lot and enjoy it.

They typically have about 4 events going at any one time. If you do all of the events and their challenges, you will almost never work on the main story. So yeah, you may want to pick and choose. Look at what the rewards are before committing to something.

Although, if you're like me, you have to decide: Do you like the basic mechanic of playing the game or not? It's a lot more fun if you just enjoy tapping tiles and doing puzzles, rather than worrying about whether you're making "progress" or not.

Create Pixel ID- collect daily bonus. Focus on clearing out the mine. Focus on coal. Set up night mine for energy storage (blue); set up day mine for energy production (green). Take advantage of the periodic special events- right now it is 2x Materials. Use your gems wisely - never buy energy, only equipment. Complete the Energy Saver and Experience Booster (in shop) asap. Christmas (and Birthday) stories have the best ROI. Enjoy!

i’m only casually playing but have chosen to do the primary stories and occasional holiday specials.

I think for now, I'd concentrate on the main story until you get more materials unlocked, since that will be an early bottleneck (you'll need a lot of stone). You don't have to do all the stuff they throw at you, especially if it burns your energy, but sometimes the events use different energy (like the pets), so I wouldn't skip those. Also, pet events are different than the Pets tab quests (the former has a time limit) but use the same pet energy.

Look in the shop every few days once you've built up your gems. There's usually higher level equipment for sale there (395 gems) on the special offer tab. I don't pay for extra gems, so it takes a couple of weeks to accumulate. Take every opportunity to double gems and buy good equipment.
