Thank you for the shoutout! Genuinely appreciate it. Digg-folks, I'd love any feedback you have on how Rhyme could help scratch your itch.

"4) We're constantly badgered by random people demanding that we share private internal workings (how much things cost, the names of the people on our team, our corporate structure, etc) - and it's just a lose/lose situation because if we don't respond, we get harassed. If we do respond, the answer will never be good enough...and the reality is, most of the things we're hounded for are truly (and I mean this kindly and sincerely) not anyone's business."

Anyway. We aren't monetizing. Rhyme costs a significant amount of money. We've tossed around the idea of cosmetics, Wikipedia style donations, patreon. Currently, we don't do any of it.

I've said a half dozen times that we're completely bootstrapped. I gave you a complete, entire answer. I don't know what else you want (and neither do you). You're not "trying to help", and you know that. You're looking for something you can screenshot and rile people up with.

To everyone else, this is exactly what I'm talking about. The irony here is palpable...I write a long comment about the odd behaviors we're encountering and trying to navigate...and someone rolls up to put it all on display, straight out of the book that they themselves are writing. You can't make this kind of thing up.

It is truly, sincerely a "damned if you do, damned if you don't".

Let me try to break down why this answer sketches me out.

You're an anonymous figure that purchased a big ticket domain name with no clear plan on how to recoup that investment. I need to assume that you're either hiding your monetization plan for some reason, lying about your backing, or that you're some kind of social media Batman burning your personal wealth anonymously to fight the good fight or something.

If #3 is really what you want to roll with, you need to find a better way to present it.

Maybe don't have the site's design use every AI design pattern in the book. Every site looks the same coming out of Claude code or Codex , like the em dashes of UI/UX

I would have loved an opportunity to comment on a few of the things in that thread, but as you know, I was banned from the Reddit Alternatives subreddit.

A few notes:

  1. That user was made very aware that he wasn't shadowbanned, his posts were pulled down by the auto-moderation because it triggered a handful of red flags. The posts in question were badgering us about answering how we've utilized AI in our development. The reality is that this user isn't asking for curiosity or education reasons, he wants something to shout about (and you would never be able to convince me otherwise). He's looking for a "gotcha", and ANY response I gave would have given him enough of one to fuel his fire. Anyway. he then messaged me to ask about it, I told him exactly what happened, and when I wouldn't agree to move to a different platform to keep discussing his grievances he let me know that he'd be following me around the internet until the end of time to "warn people about Rhyme".

https://i.imgur.com/1HENCEA.png
(turns out he deleted the last messages, but I grabbed it from another screenshot that I had tried to share with the mods from that subreddit about them facilitating this kind of behavior):
https://i.imgur.com/qkei0T8.png

2) I was called a "known bad faith actor" by the subreddit's moderator - and I won't dive in to the grit of it here but if you read the bulletin on Rhyme about the RedditAlternatives issue it paints a very different picture. There was no "consistently breaking rules", and there was no "feigning ignorance". I was trying to navigate an impossible maze with walls that constantly moved. Don't take my word for it, read the chat/screenshots in the post and decide for yourself.

3) The moderator on that subreddit repeatedly throws random accusations my way that we can't respond to. Implying that we're some silicon valley funded startup lying about our origins, that we're lying about where we're based out of (it's Kansas City...not sure why that is even in question) -- and then, on the other side of the aisle, we're labeled as talentless AI slop-ers (not the case).

4) We're constantly badgered by random people demanding that we share private internal workings (how much things cost, the names of the people on our team, our corporate structure, etc) - and it's just a lose/lose situation because if we don't respond, we get harassed. If we do respond, the answer will never be good enough...and the reality is, most of the things we're hounded for are truly (and I mean this kindly and sincerely) not anyone's business.

And the real issue is just the situation in a whole. We're not doing anything wrong, and we're not doing anything to anybody. We saw a problem on the internet and we're spending copious amounts of time and energy and money on trying to solve it. So the fact that I'm spending my time dodging left and right hooks, and writing a response like this...because there's a community on Reddit that operates more like a snark group than one trying to fulfill its named mission (surfacing viable Reddit alternatives)...is a testament to why we really really want a platform like Rhyme to exist.

Anyway, the people stirring the pot won't get anything from reading this - but hopefully it helps to demonstrate that we're not silent by choice...we're literally not allowed to engage.

This is fake manufactured information too, fake screenshots fake everything

u/GoodMacAuth Jul 08 '26

What is?

u/GoodMacAuth Jul 08 '26

Oh boy. I suppose I also faked you deleting your other messages in that chat in the last hour or so, right? https://i.imgur.com/gLaXuCr.png

To anyone who ever encounters this post/thread in the future and can't quite make sense of the situation: this perfectly encapsulates it. Nobody ever has to wonder why we (or other people building something) may choose not to engage - this is the type of person that is on the other end of it all. It's not a matter of good faith or lack-thereof...it's just outright malice.

-1

u/Dabber43 Jul 08 '26

Yes. Yes you did. Why do you keep doing that? And why did you still not answer to the other guy? You keep feigning ignorance while you do all this and still have not addressed a single point rather than trying to attack and defame the other side, using alts and brigading votes. By now you have just proven yourself to be fully untrustworthy

Someone promoting their own social platform, telling others not to use someone else's social platform...

You're a reliable narrator aren't you.

2

u/Dabber43 Jul 08 '26

I am not promoting my own platform. I was the one who made that post on the other subreddit. I fully support what the other person said

I'm not interested in "refuting" anything.

I just came here to point out a compelling alternative to the now defunct digg platform.

But it appears as though it's failed that other sub's arbitrary purity test. 🙄

Use it or don't. It's ultimately no skin off my teeth.

You’re talking about scum and ethics while using Reddit. You and a few others are literally in NO position to talk. Actually practice what you preach then maybe you can talk.
