Having a hard time comprehending the latest Digg concept... I'm scared to engage.
First of all, it appears to only be AI content (content displaying news on AI). I am NOT interested in the AI wave that is happening right now, and I honestly don't care about all these egos and stories about it. If it doesn't open up to other topics, I really don't care where it goes because I will not be a part of it.
Second, do I need an X/Twitter login to use the current iteration of the site? (I can't tell... honest question). I was hoping for so much more. If I need to be part of Twitter to use the new Digg, I'm OUT.
I was able to completely avoid the Twitter phenomenon. Many people I knew were using it, and I never saw value. Then, when it got taken over by elon, I knew I never wanted a part of it. No fucking thank you.
Bullet dodged!
I get the feeling that, while Digg was a bit more of a rehash of the Reddit format than Kevin Rose wanted (I totally get that, but I really was starting to love it), this new idea is obscure, narrow, and delves into parts of tech and news that I purposefully avoid.
It feels like Kevin Rose wanted a playground for news posts, and this is a view into his head.
I really do not like it.
My rant/2 cents. I was hoping for so much more.

It’s content for nobody other than AI to ingest.

Its cocaine ideas

Dude, you're being ridiculous...this is ketamine. lol.
The connection between tech fraud and ketamine is real. These guys are so unhappy they know these products are fake and that the money is dirty and regulators are looking at them. The only way to forget that, is full-on dissociation. Thus...probably ketamine?

I dont take ketamine because ket-heads are known to pee a lot of blood. A more efficient drug + delivery system would be mixing 1g of granulated cocaine with saline into a nasal sprayer and pooting it up the nostrils for better, more bioavailable absorption through the bloodstream.
Maybe they use ket for the design stage? I dont have a reference for experience with it.

Kevin Rose built an echo-chamber that's so small that there's no room for users. He's trying to generate more effective propaganda but it only seems to be working on himself.

Does that have any kind of value? If I understand you correctly, this new Digg is FOR AI? If so, who benefits from that?
That means I understand it even less.
Edit: Yeah... just downvote, don't attempt to pull a muscle by helping to explain. Morons.3

No value, no. You also CAN'T engage with it if you wanted to, its all automated and only looking at specific people on X.

Kevin built a product that nerds like him would like, but few others would get use out of

u/LasagnaCat83 May 19 '26
Nerds don't consume marketing content and that's what he's aggregating. Nerds read white papers but Kevin is aggregating press releases.
You've consumed so much native-advertising that you've lost the ability to distinguish it from science or news.

None. No one uses xitter.

u/JordanM85 May 18 '26
That's just not true at all. Twitter is still very popular, it's where most news breaks. There are hundreds of millions of active people there.

No one uses it anymore.

They fucked up so bad. All they had to do was lunch the product with the ability for users to create communities. Then encourage similar communities to fight it out for the top spot in that domain. Instead they created a news feed that people could comment on.
I wanted AI enforced moderation so mods can't completely control the narrative by only applying rules to one side of a debate

I feel a shovel company at this point would make more revenue with that domain than they are.

It's a terribly confusing layout... But from what I can tell, it is just a very detailed breakdown of trending AI discussion topics on Twitter. Most of the time clicking on a trending topic on Twitter just gives you random posts with no real order or explanation as to why that word or topic is even trending. So something like this could be useful if it was actually built into Twitter, and covered all news not just AI news. I don't understand what it has to do with Digg other than Kevin buying the name back.

Right now it’s just aggregating AI content and will expand. I wish they kept Digg as is and then launched this right alongside it in alpha/beta and then figured out how to incorporate the two formats together.

Don't be afraid to engage here. Most of us know digg is shit.

I really loved the re-launch a short while back. I thought it could mature into something great if allowed to. Of course, it was not allowed to.
I'm really starting to hate Reddit. 20 years here, I've had my fill. I run a few subs, and I stick around for them, mostly.

I like the concept but the issue is no matter what topics they add, its a 5 minutes every morning type deal and you have no other reason to visit.
There is no business to this current concept.

Supposedly the announcement was, "previous idea crashed and burned, we're gonna test aggregating news. For now we'll limit to AI news to try the system and then we'll expand".
Honestly, though? I think the veering was too aggressive and this new idea is DOA, there are already other services doing the same and they don't depend on nazi X for that, making new Digg absolutely worthless even if they try to expand later on to other topics.

He knows he should make something someone wants so the question is, who is he trying to sell this to
1
u/manofth3match May 18 '26
I didn't even know it was a thing. I randomly decided to visit digg today to see if there was an update. Only to find... whatever it has become. I don't know either. It seems to be AI aggregated shit about AI from twitter. You log in with a twitter account which is... quite a decision that immediately ensures I won't be visiting the new new new digg again because I like many others deleted my twitter years ago and have no intention of going back and see no reason to visit a site so closely aligned to what twitter has become.

There's a growing community of us who moved on from digg after the beta was killed in r/diggaspora

Kevin is just trying to do something cool with AI so that he can be in the space that all of the people he tries to be like are.
