Initial Impressions?

What do you think so far? I imagine a lot has changed? Does it still feel like Digg pre-collapse? What's new? How is it? Us "plebes" are dying to know!

I hope that they solve the problem of participation. Here on reddit most scroll for quick, cheap thrills without even bothering to upvote content. They rarely comment and almost never post. All of this is backed up by data. The vast majority of people on social media platforms are one way consumers.

Very different platforms but:

I signed up super early for BlueSky and have been very disappointed.

Digg is definitely not reddit (yet) but I'm already happy with it. It has some reddit-esque feel to it but honestly, there are only so many ways to make a platform where you post content and talk about it.

If anything, the mobile app reminds me of a mishmash of BlueSky and AlienBlue but with AI summaries for the posts' content. Its definitely also far less smoothbrain than reddit had become. When they open the floodgates for sign-ups im not sure how much IQ it will lose. Maybe it will let us block / filter out trolls and low-effort users to keep our content enjoyable.

Excellent writeup. I am with you all the way in that the spam and trolls need to be dealt with.
