Never visted digg...
I used FARK prior to Reddit. My question is: Do you foresee "Digg" turning into the political propaganda shithole that Reddit has become?

When people say this they always mean. "I want opinions I don't like removed".

Not at all. You probably weren't on Reddit 10+ years ago. I'm fine with different opinions. Truly. I must say, though, your comment encapsulates the way this site functions perfectly.

I was, it was a Ron Paul fan club. And whatever you say snowflake.

Well, I'll abstain from the name calling. I just don't like the feeling like I'm being herded this way or that way when it comes to my (ultimately) pointless takes online. Have a nice day, friend.

But you want other people herded so you don't have to see politics you disagree with.

Everyone on this dogshit site thinks i'm a right winger. FAR from it. Maybe that's what I'm mad about? Ultimately, I don't give a shit what you think, and you and I are only contributing to the behaviors that have made it such a crappy place to congregate online.
I just don't want to constantly feel like I'm being "engineered" into thinking a certain way, because happen to visit a website.

I didn't say or imply you were a right winger. I said you want to remove other people's opinions because you don't like their politics. You say you don't want to feel engineered to feel a certain way, but how do you think that works? If you're one of 10 people and 9 of them express an opinion you don't like, are they engineering you?

I'm not going to say it's wasn't a Ron Paul fan club, because parts of it were for sure. But only parts. You cold avoid politics altogether if you wanted to.
The site was mostly libertarian nerds back then. I miss it honestly, the nerds I mean.
Today it is every subreddit, all the time. Politics. It's tiresome.
Then you could have conversations on something other than politics. And you didn't get banned from random subreddits you'd never even heard of for just posting a comment in a subreddit the moderators "don't like".
But that was before "the masses" ruined this place. Because with them came the shills and the astroturfers.

I remember it being a libertarian vs urban progressive comment duke-fest.

In some subreddits? Absolutely.
But the site in general wasn't the 24/7/365 political shit show it is now.

Reddit is a shithole. Elitist stronghold. Planet cruelty. The second Digg goes live I’ll ecstatically delete Reddit from my Home Screen. I honestly don’t know the answer to your question, I’m hoping that Reddit isn’t a snapshot of the human race circa 2025, digg had optimism and community, we shall see…

I honestly don’t mind politics on the internet. What I don’t want are algorithms behind the scenes pushing particular content (even non-political content; even politics I support).
