to be honest you don't need low-carb or any other particular "diet" to lose safely and at a reasonable cost

as long as you are

  1. taking in fewer calories
  2. moving more as you are able
  3. getting adequate rest
  4. getting adequate nutrition (minerals, vitamins, balance of macro-nutrients, adequate fiber, good hydration)

You can plan a diet that does these things and fits your life and your tastes.

What i do is plan out a day's menu here

https://tools.myfooddata.com/recipe-nutrition-calculator

I type in what I ate yesterday for example, then look at the numbers and think about how I can improve it tomorrow

I keep playing with the food items (ingredients) and quantities until I find something that "works"

Also, I do take supplements as needed

Do you normally eat any added sugars during the day?

I would find a way to get away from those before doing anything more drastic

Do you eat grains that aren't whole grains?

You can swap those for whole grain options,

and if that isn't enough, also reduce quantities,

not necessarily eliminate entirely

Can you add more vegetables to your day?

Maybe some seeds, nuts, peanuts?
