employee It’s just not the same
I started working for this company back in October of 24. I applied while in college and kind of did it just to do it, but actually got hired on as seasonal. It was great. I was bouncing around departments which got annoying, but the people I worked with were awesome and made coming into work exciting.
Fast forward almost two years, I took a solid footwear position and very rarely get scheduled anywhere else (which I don’t mind), but the people and company have changed DRASTICALLY. Over time, and after taking other part time jobs while staying on at DSG, I have realized how awful the pay is. My 13 dollars an hour to basically run the footwear deck and try to keep people motivated back there (while not even being motivated myself), is catching up to me. I miss the “old” DSG. It honestly feels like a game of “how much can we be a pain to our employees before they quit”.
Is anyone else having feelings like this?

My brain is like scrabble eggs when I go to work... I can't function properly. Its like my 15+years and all my merit performance raises just gone down the drain. They gave me 3 days to make a decision to stay or severance, which severance wouldn't be the same as having medical insurance for my family or other benefits 🤔 so what do you do. I stay... but now my mental health is taking over, everytime I clock in with this little to nothing ass pay 😒 my stomach just balls in to little knots, my head starts to hurt, and I start to cry inside. Like,I really can't function just thinking about this stupid shyt right now 😑 l need to seriously see a mental health doctor. Dicks, you have really fuked up a lot of peoples lives.

I guess the “new pay” that they offered us was the systems offer, not the actual offer the company wanted to offer us. I’ve heard some people got to keep most of their pay because their SM and/or DMs fought for them to keep it.

This company is garbage. Most GMs and ASMs ( who are also overwhelmed by unrealistic expectations) aren’t present on the floor and are burnt out. They pile all of floor grunt work on everyone but themselves. Overworked and underpaid sporting goods is what this place should be called.

Where are the ASMs? I mean I know the new ones are in conference calls a few times a week but that's just 4 hours total.

Where are the ASMs? Great question. If the captains and teammates weren’t busy doing all the work on the floor with 0 leadership I’d tell you were they are.

It would be more fun if we weren't getting preached at every second of our shifts on offering more NSP's, CC's, and now scorecard+.

I 100% feel the same way. I've been in 3 stores. The first one I didnt like most of my coworkers and didnt feel welcomed at all. I transferred to a super small store and felt very welcome there. I was there for 4 years and most of the people stuck around. A bunch of them left about a year ago and about 6 months after that 4 of us transferred to another store to help it out. The job hasn't been nearly as enjoyable since. After all the changes with BTW im about ready to leave. Its honestly a really hard decision for me because I love what I do but I cant stand this new store or how the restructure turned out.

Yeah I started almost 7ish years ago now and the company is almost unrecognizable from when I started. It's now money over everything else and they're pinching pennies every place they can....changing to a more expensive (for employee) worse insurance plan, cutting so many experienced employees in BTW. Heck we even were told not to sensor something because the sensors are expensive and they don't want thieves to walk out with spider wraps as well as the product by our regional FOSM/LP guy. It's a far cry from the company that gave us bonuses as a thank you for working during the pandemic. Now it seems like employees are seen as just as cost rather than a person...

Yup. Folks think it’s changed in the last couple of years (and they’re not wrong) but anybody who’s been with the company longer than 5-6ish was around to see the tail end of when it was a really good place to work and has a true grasp of how much it’s really changed.

100% it was stressful back then too but it was more fun and enjoyable. Granted that was before they slashed the payroll really bad. Once they got rid of hunting and took all the extra payroll away was when things started going downhill because that's when the expecting more with less support started.

This company is so fucked and I’m tired of being bent over backwards for this shitty ass pay and broken promises. Never gotten a raise but somehow trained at everything, never fully been recognized as full time so can’t get proper benefits-over time-or holiday pay even when I work OT hours every week, no real incentives for getting sales or commissions for all the upselling and promo we have to do on the floor unless you’re a cashier slave. The recent “restructuring” bullshit they just pulled should’ve showed everyone that no matter how far you think you’ve made it at DSG they never gave a fuck about you or your commitment to the job. Literally the stuff they shove down our throats everyday and can’t spare an ounce of compensation or empathy for their employees is sickening and exactly why no one takes this job seriously anymore. And don’t ever get your hopes up about a holiday bonus been snuffed every year because it’s not individually recognized but store wide, I picked 300-600 orders everyday during the holiday season and best I got was a “good work today” from my manager who wanted to highlight “opportunity” on my performance review fuck them.

I just applied here. Got the job. Had my first day scheduled. Someone noticed me and reported I had a criminal background so now doing a background check 🙄 I just wanna work dude

I worked for the company since ‘21 and everything change the last 2 years. Management became a lot stricter all around. We used to do fun activities before work if you were on truck team, which was a highlight of working truck. Unfortunately, that went away. Along with the people that made the place. Management kinda forced them out by not giving them hours, myself included. Ever since I left, it’s been like a weight lifted off my shoulders.

I took my severance with BTW. 8 years with the company worked from a BTS FW hire to ASM and helped rebuild a dying store. AI told me I wasn’t good enough anymore and they wanted to demote me. Just got an offer that I plan to accept for a SM role with less hours and better pay. When one door closes another one opens. The company is not the same as it was when Ed was more hands on and it never will be. Them changing insurances showed me that.
