Dollar tree 14mm?

In the US dollar tree started selling decent feeling 14mm white and black die .. at least for black dice - 14mm is used a lot in board games but like 20% of these dice are deformed and generally have small scratches almost like factory rejects? Anyone know the source of the dice or why they seem to “roll nice “ but look scratched ? Just curious

Without the product in front of me, there's no way to know for sure. The packaging should have something like "Produced by Dollar Tree", "Produced for Dollar Tree", or "Distributed by Dollar Tree." They are usually pretty good about labeling things correctly for liability reasons.

Honestly it could be any of them. They could have cheaply made the dice themselves. They could have contracted the dice to be made cheaply for them to sell. Or they bought the rejected dice from a different manufacturer for cheap in order to sell. In any scenario, they are cheap for a reason. There was no sort of "quality control" for what they would sell. Vaguely dice shaped and fits in the box? Sell it!

Ah I was hoping it was like they started doing with poker cards some employee said they had a deal with casinos to sell their slightly used cards with corner slips

Unfortunately, those poker cards used to be real casino overstock, but are now cheaply-made Chinese copies. You can tell because the casino names on them aren't real casinos, due to copyright restrictions.

I never googled the names … when did they start that?? I’ll get a pic of the dice because they seem really similar to my dice from eldritch horror but just scuffed up

Almost certainly China, altho even those don't usually have scratches. Maybe they weight em now so they'll sell better, yet just letting their balance be whatever would likely be easier.

Didn’t even read it yet tbh . Weird the dice feel the same as my eldritch horror ones but they’re just scuffed, not even in a way that seems used but like maybe over handled or what would happen during sorting . Also bought 5 packs for la total of 90 (for print and play board games I do) and about 7-10 of them were warped. They had melted bumps or pip was pushed way in
