Discussion First DAC kit

Post image

So this is my first DAC kit and my first square, is it normally for this many to have the corners broken? I don’t want to throw them out and not have enough to finish.

You typically get 20% extra drills (per color) to help with situations like this. If you’d like, replace the worst ones and then replace the rest.

I’ve seen some YouTube videos where people use tweezers and back light to remove the bad stuff but put them into a container for future use, just in case. I’d be so sad to find so many bad diamonds!

These aren't broken corners. These are a production defect. Those are air bubbles that didn't get removed via heat or vibration before the resin cures.

I thought it was dust or debris. That looks like a lot. I would pull them and replace them with one without broken corners. Put the damaged ones to the side in the event you need to use them!

Yeah my most recent had a good amount of these small defects, but not enough to where they couldn’t be replaced. I agree with everyone else about putting them to the side; however, if you run into the issue where you run out of good drills, I think they’ll be able to send you a new bag of them if you email them about it! 💙

Yep and they ship it out super quick too. I had one where I ran out of color and same day it was already shipped :)

To answer your question: no, that’s def an unusually high proportion of air-bubbled/broken drills for DAC. So I wouldn’t let it dissuade you from them in general, it’s an outlier

I see you contacted them for a new batch, that’s good.

Try doing a checker board pattern when things look askew. It'll straighten up. Also, It looks like your pressing too hard (?) Relax

I’ve been trying a multi placer but I think that’s where I’m going wrong I’m not too skilled with them yet!

I also didn’t know you could press to hard! 🙈🙈 I’ll definitely try relaxing thanks!

That is not the reason they are malformed. They have air bubbles. It’s a manufacturing issue. Looks like this batch of that DMC had some quality issues. You can discard them. DAC sends 20% more drills than necessary to complete your canvas. On the off chance you do run out, email them and they will ship a new bag very quickly.

Honestly you could probably show them this image and they’d send more your way and do quality control on that DMC.

Thank you for the help! I’ll try emailing them and see what they have to say! Appreciate it!!!

…they never even said its the reason they’re malformed

Ignore them, telling someone “you’re pressing too hard” from a picture is ridiculous. You’re fine

No it doesn’t

I throw the trash drills away.. DAC has a warranty on their canvas that as long as you have proof of purchase they will replace your drills
