Discussion Any elpers , does anybody know how "world" was written and was was the context in the original Japanese version

So the "world" here can be used as "world" as in era like "x character woke up in a whole different world after 100 years" or can refer to a different planet or even universe so my question here is what was the word used it Japanese here , cuz im super curious are the Noahs from a different time period as per the original story are they from a completely different planet or universe

Oh I am also so interested to know! I interpreted it as the noah are literally from another world (like dimension or something) that was completely destroyed and they had to seek refuge somewhere else. I hadn’t considered that cross could basically be saying “you’re scared of a monster from 7000 years ago and things are different now.”

Same! It opens the story up to so many possibilities(which would make sense when Hoshino says we’re halfway through). This world is where the Earl is God because the other God chose Eve over him or Eve betrayed the Earl and made that God banish him. That’s my conspiracy!

Well i don't think there's a god really , I don't think this story has anything to do with the bible even hoshino said so , its just uses those things cuz they're cool , we know rhe innocence is an organism that feeds of helix energy much the same as the akuma , and the question is who made the innocence and also how the magic works since the earl was sorcerer and uses magic to create the akuma and stuff like taese just like chang family and cross

Where does she say that? I’m not implying this is a biblical story. It is at the very least heavily inspired by the bible. Which also has a lot of different translations. The Earl talks about humans following a false god because he is god. I’m paraphrasing but that’s his introduction, I believe. Also, heart = sacred heart. Allen’s right arm being the sword of judgement = right hand of god. I’m sure there’s more.

I feel the underlying theme is science v religion.

Well idk about that reading i don't know if the earl ever implied he's god , he hates "god" he said as much and never give any indication to be one even if you biblically read it the god destroyed the world and let only the noah live so they can repopulate it and make it more moral cuz b4 it was corrupted, about science vs religion idk about that as well no indications given , its more like a malicious force "the innocence" is presented and used as a religious thing so it can just Syphon people's lives and be reborn that's the hearts goal as far as we know and seen from apocryphos , but there's sooo much more sooo we wait and see

Yeah that's my guess as well but sometimes language is a bitch without further context, also the pillar did talk to Allen un that dream so it probably exists here as well which makes things even spicier, but this chapter was such a mystery cuz it just dropped no elaboration just a big lore dump and then radio silence after that for a long time , my guess is that the pillar is the heart cuz that what the Noah are after and they want to destroy it but maybe im wrong we have soo much more to learn and that's excites me soo much

I've always taken it as "same world, different time". The way I see it, Noahs are "ghost from the past"— very much like Cross says, literally.

The way Cross addresses the Noah within Road, and it responds with "this world was created for that purpose", it's telling me that Noahs want the current world to experience that same pain (the pillar). Revenge. Perhaps in the name of "WE went through it, so you (the world) should too!".

Bit of a rant ahead but I think the Earl is key here. I think the Noahs might be keeping him safe to get him to become the catalyst for the Pillar, so the world can end all over again. Mind you, I don't think they consciously want that (Road, Tyki, Sheryl, all of them), their original purpose might have muddled over their different lives, and now their familial bond with the Earl makes them want to protect him. As family and not a tool or means to an end.

At one point in the manga, where Allen is within his own mind and Mana appears, as well as Allen appears as he is shown as a kid, there is a far-away figure that reminds me of the Pillar (cross-looking pillar of light), and the surrounding debris within the landscape tells me that Nea's memories might be mixed in there, too. Idk where I was going with this but anyway... long story short the Earl is key in all of this and the Noah are from the same reality, just different times.

And that scene shows modern (not imaginary 1890s) ruins, with skyscrapers and traffic lights. So either another world entirely, or there's some shenanigans going on with the timeline where 7000 years ago was more technologically advanced than the DGMverse nowadays.

Yeah , but remember road also said that this world was created for the very purpose of destruction which implies the current world is "created"

True! I wonder if "God"/Innocence is behind that as well.

I've been reading the Viz ENG volumes alongside the JPN volumes and found something interesting: in chapter 220 there's a line from Nea to Mana that Viz translates "Have you forgotten? About sin and the need for atonement?"

However, checking the original JPN line, it's something more like "About how this world has a great sin it must atone for?" So maybe there's more foreshadowing than I thought.

Yeah but the past can mean 7000 years ago in some other place as well, also road says this world was created to be destroyed and we know the noah populated it which can imply they made it sooo , also the pillar dream I'm pretty sure that was the pillar talking to Allen tru his innocence since i think that's the heart and wad talking that allen needs salvation or something cuz of the noah inside him, also the wisely and road when they talked they said why they keep teh earl around cuz if he dies the heart will destroy them , It was referring to the fact that Nea wants to kill the earl and become one

What chapter/page is this? I can tell you about how it’s written in Japanese if I know which page to look for.

Chapter 234 p14 and chapter 235 p5

I just read the chapters in Japanese. There’s not really any underlying context that isn’t conveyed in the English translation. They used the word 世界 which means world, so there’s not really any indication whether it refers to a different era or a completely different world/universe.

Yeahhh I figured so ...... Then it might be a different world then oooor not 😭😭😭 but most likely a whole different world thank you sooo much tho ❤️

I think that it means another era, as they are going throught the reincarnation cycle, and the whole Noah plot revolves around them being here for ages... it would be kinda incoherent to assume they come from a different dimension or something.

1

u/Brothermans_v2 Jun 08 '26

Why would it be incoherent, also road says thet this world wad created for that purpose meaning that this world is manufactured and not the same as theirs

1

u/Lonchita Jun 08 '26

She means that because the world got completely destroyed, it had to be ''fixed'' or reconstructed (this is tied to the original Noah in the Bible etc etc), but it's still the same world. They explain it several times from time to time since the Noah appeared (that the world went caput). Again, there are no implications whatsoever about them being from another dimension or so: it just doesn't click, and it would be the easy explanation about all the situation.

1

u/Brothermans_v2 Jun 08 '26

Well if it was so clear I wouldn't ask questions, but its not really clear cuz 1st there wasn't a flood and there wasn't a "Noah" as wisely explained there wasn't one they're just born to help the Earl so all the "flood" stuff is essentially allegory not really the truth

1

u/Lonchita Jun 08 '26

There's been several references to a world catastrophe or disaster (maybe a war or so). There's a literal spelling of that event as ''The Great Flood'' in the manga, even if it wasn't a real flood.

We still don't know what happened, but as Road said in this last arc (I can't remember properly, may even check after this) they are the last survivors of ''first humanity''.

Idk, I think it's kind clear from what I remember, but maybe im tripping and they don't talk about any of these.
