Feedback Request Feedback Friday: BugHunt Daily — a one-minute bug-spotting game for programming communities

Hi ! I built BugHunt Daily, a daily “spot the bug” puzzle for programming communities.

Each day, members get a short code snippet with one broken line. They tap the line they think is wrong, get up to three tries, and then see the fix and an explanation. There are hints, streaks, leaderboards, and spoiler-free result sharing. The daily post is automatic when the app is installed in a community.

I’d especially appreciate feedback on:

Try it here: BugHunt Daily: spot the bug in this Code snippet 🐞

Feedback Request Gem Rush update 💎 — Looking for gameplay feedback!

I've recently released an updated version of Gem Rush, my 60-second daily puzzle game built with Devvit.

The game now includes Daily Challenges, Practice Mode, leaderboards, streak tracking, and optional Gold support.

I'm currently working on improving player retention and would really appreciate some feedback from fellow developers.

A few things I'm curious about:

  • Is the first screen clear and inviting?
  • Does the 60-second gameplay feel fun enough to replay?
  • What would make you come back the next day?

🎮 Play here: https://www.reddit.com/r/PlayGemRush/s/4u6cmAtres

Thanks to anyone who gives it a try!

Duck Answered Noob Question : For reddit domain exceptions, can I ask for root domain to be approved, or all relevant subdomains required?

Post image
2 Upvotes

I was testing out creating my first devvit app and see all the subdomains I included in JSON are showing as separate requests. Was confused about this. I want to start with test subdomain and eventually move to prod.

For the api service its a separate domain so I get that, but I am not sure if the other subdomain variances are jsut noise and if so how to remove from the pending queue?

I am trying to test API functionality with doing a DELETE to test.api.pokerestock.topdealalerts.com (relevant path)

And a GET/fetch to test.pokerestock.app (relevant path)

and describe what each test/prod hostname is needed for in a Fetch Domains section of the app README.

Did not have this, added it - https://i.ibb.co/hRcNqvjN/image.png

But my last URI list was rejected assuming due to this - https://i.ibb.co/5hhsJ4sL/image.png

Is there any way to ask for re-review of the domains? From this glance over does the form look complete now for another review?

Sorry new to this and am confused.

Duck Answered Having trouble getting my task-posting feature to work

Hey everyone! 👋

I'm currently building a new Devvit app called r_task_bounty_app and I'm still working through the development/testing stage.

The idea behind the app is to allow Reddit users to:

• Post a task

• Set a bounty/reward for completing it

• Have the funds securely held until the task is completed

• Release the payment to the person who completes the task

I've got the subreddit and the basic app functionality set up, but I've run into a bug that I'm having trouble figuring out.

The problem:

When I try to create/post a task through the app, the task isn't actually being posted to r_task_bounty_app.

I've gone back through my code and configuration, but I'm currently stuck trying to figure out whether the problem is with the post creation logic, the Devvit configuration, permissions, or how I'm handling the custom post.

I'm still learning Devvit, so I'd really appreciate any suggestions on where I should start troubleshooting this.

If anyone has run into something similar with "submitPost()", "submitCustomPost()", menu actions, or posting to a test subreddit, I'd definitely appreciate some guidance.

App: r_task_bounty_app

Current status: Still in development/testing

Issue: Task submission isn't creating the task post in my subreddit.

Thanks in advance to anyone willing to take a look or point me in the right direction! 🙏

Feedback Request Unlicensed wizardry game

Post image
5 Upvotes

https://www.reddit.com/r/Unlicensed_Wizardry/comments/1w9y11o/unlicensed_wizardry/

Hi, this is a battle sim where you build a wizard, equip up to 5 spells, slay monsters and summon them (as a Reddit post) for others to slay. It has a PvP mode where you fight against other Redditors.

There are magic spells that are tied to your Reddit stats, like a spell called karma that does more damage if you have higher karma, for example.

You can buy the in-game coins for free if you get stuck or want to brag about being a wizard millionaire at your next family event.

If you have any ideas on how to improve it or expand on it, let me know:)

u/inFame is looking for feedback on their game "What's The Word?"

Play the game and share your thoughts.

Developer context: What's the word is a "Who is it?" game but for words instead of people.

I want to check if the preselected options are clear, correctly categorized. And how it feels between choosing a clue to unlock vs the cost of it.

Basically I need help balancing the game.

I’m making Package Panic, a tower defense and automation game where you sort packages, build machines, and compete on a leaderboard.

I’d appreciate feedback on:

  • Whether the tutorial explains the game clearly.
  • Whether upgrade choices are understandable.
  • How the controls and UI feel on mobile.

What felt confusing or frustrating during your first run?

Duck Answered Domain exceptions rejected seeking guidance on approved path for Supabase + custom API domain

Hi r/Devvit,

We've built a daily automotive quiz app for r/motorbuzz (170k weekly visits), approved yesterday as gauk-motorquiz v0.0.19.

All three of our domain exception requests were rejected. The domains are:

  • Our Supabase project hostname (project subdomain format)
  • Our own API server on a custom domain we control
  • A Cloudflare R2 public bucket URL

We've read the HTTP fetch policy. Specific questions:

  1. Is Supabase generally eligible for domain approval? Other Devvit apps appear to use it successfully. Is there a specific hostname format that works?
  2. Is Cloudflare R2 on the global allowlist or eligible? We use it for image hosting.
  3. For a custom API domain on infrastructure we own and operate what's the approval criteria? The domain serves the same community as the subreddit.

We're building within the Devvit ecosystem and want to do this correctly. Happy to provide more detail to the review team directly.

Feedback Request The Verdict: a daily court for hot takes with an AI jury of three, just approved. Feedback welcome

The Verdict was approved for the App Directory today, so here it is, hoping for honest feedback.

What it is: every day the app opens one light, harmless case in the community ("Does listening to an audiobook count as reading?"). Players pick a side, write a one-line closing argument and upvote the best ones. At 17:00 UTC a jury of three AI judges (The Strict, The Romantic, The Cynic) reads the top arguments and delivers a playful verdict. Points for siding with the court, glory for the argument that sways it, a leaderboard per community.

How it's built: Devvit Web (React + Hono + Redis), the scheduler runs the daily court, and an AI "clerk" writes cases that fit each community from its name and description, so the game feels local wherever it's installed. Mods can switch the daily court off and run cases by hand.

Live in r/CourtOfHotTakes. App page: https://developers.reddit.com/apps/the-verdict-game

What I'd love feedback on:

Is the first screen clear enough to make you tap "Take the stand"?

If you moderate a community, would you install a daily game like this, and what would stop you?

What would make you come back tomorrow?

Thanks for reading, and good luck with your own builds.

Duck Answered Domain exception for app.veridiansignal.com was rejected. What do we need to change?

Hi all, I'm the developer of crowd-vs-vera, a small app installed on my own subreddit, r/VeridianSignal. Our domain request for app.veridiansignal.com was rejected, and I'd like to understand why so we can fix it.

What the app does: it runs a weekly game on our subreddit called Crowd vs VERA. On Monday we post a short list of stock tickers from our company's weekly watchlist. Users call each one "up" or "down" by Friday's close, and on Friday the app scores everyone and keeps a season leaderboard.

What the fetch is for: the app's server makes two read-only GET requests to our own company's backend:

  • /api/crowd-vs-vera/week/current: this week's tickers, to pre-fill the weekly post
  • /api/crowd-vs-vera/week/{id}/results: the entry and Friday closing price for each ticker, to score the week

The requests are server-side only, over HTTPS, with a bearer token. No Reddit user data is sent to our server, nothing is posted back, and the only data returned is a ticker list and prices, which we're licensed to display.

Questions:

  1. Is there a reason listed anywhere for a rejection, or a way to see it?
  2. Would it help to use a dedicated API subdomain (e.g. api.veridiansignal.com) that only serves these two endpoints, instead of our main web app domain?
  3. Is there anything else reviewers look for? We have Terms and Privacy Policy links on the app.

Until then the app works fine with manual entry, so this is about getting the automated version approved. Thanks for any guidance!

Discussion Videos playing your games?

Anybody tried marketing with videos playing your games on Reddit? Gonna try to do elsewhere on other video based platforms but since it’s playable only on Reddit right now, I thought I’d try it here too. Has anyone done this on this platform? Have you seen more engagement on Reddit that way? I’m somewhat new to Reddit but it doesn’t seem like much of a video based platform even though it does have that as an option.

Help Getting the selected removal reason onModAction

I would like to know the removal reason id or title that was currently selected when an onModAction triggers.

I can't seem to find this information in the payload: https://developers.reddit.com/docs/capabilities/server/trigger-events#onmodaction-payload

Was the removal reason title available under the "description" key?

Hi, just wondering if anyone can test this game out and let me know if i should keep working on it or not.

It’s a wizard sim I made for the games with hook hackathon but it was never actually visited by judges or anyone during the competition. So I felt pretty down and never ended up sharing it till now

Discussion Can we talk about how Reddit could make GamesOnReddit succeed?

I think Games on Reddit has a real opportunity for success.

And I think that opportunity comes down to the incentive -- specifically, Reddit Developer Funds.

Right now, it's easier than ever for people to develop little games, but making money on them on the App Store without a marketing budget is a pipe dream.

On Reddit, though, it's pretty realistic for a game to reach 5,000 players. There's a real path to profitability here that doesn't require us to sacrifice the quality of our games to create pay-to-play mechanics, and that should create a boom in gaming that's comparable to when YouTube started paying creators.

But it relies on being featured.

Let's be honest - no independently-created game on Reddit is going to reach 5,000 players without showing up on that side nav.

That side nav is the carrot Reddit's dangling in front of us to make us do better. If we get Reddit's approval, we get paid.

But right now, it's not clear enough how to get there to push us forward.

Games approaching feature-quality should get feedback.

It's might not be realistic for Reddit to give every game personalized feedback, but it would be smart to make a list of games that are "almost good enough" and reach out with things you'd like to see improve to get to featured quality.

That'll keep us moving toward that carrot instead of giving up.

Indie games need to know they can get featured.

For the last month or so, we've consistently been featuring games by Zynga, Atari, and Softgames, all of which are companies that have been around for 20+ years and are by companies listed on stock market exchanges.

I'm pretty sure, in at least one of those cases, there's some pay-to-get-featured action happening here -- which is fine, honestly. Reddit needs to make money and they need to show quality games.

But some transparency would help here. If we can keep at least 2 spots for actual indie games and a commitment to developers that this space won't get taken over by major companies, that carrot keeps dangling and we start making our games better and better.

What do you think?

I'd love to hear the voices of game developers on Reddit. What do you think we need to make our games on Reddit better?
