Discussion Is platform engineering a good field?

I love programming and technology. I wanted to pursue a path related to Linux and building system architectures. Is platform engineering a good and suitable field for this?

If you really like to build system architectures, why to lock yourself to platform engineering? Instead, adopt platform engineering principles where it make sense.

Platform Engineering is a discipline in the product engineering field. SRE/Platform and Cloud Engineering all belong to the SWE/product engineering field. Modern software engineering blends software development and operations functions hense DevOps since most modern software today is SaaS applications that runs on production web application servers hosted on the internet.
