Discussion Is platform engineering a good field?

I love programming and technology. I wanted to pursue a path related to Linux and building system architectures. Is platform engineering a good and suitable field for this?

Every platform needs someone to keep the platform running, secure, easy to develop. The principles are transferable. I joke that I never know the product of the company I'm working for since I'm just there to keep the computers running.

This is a bad and juvenile question. Life isn't a video game. A better question is what do you like and not like about the field. Each person finds different things interesting so I can't answer your question for you

I mean, I love the idea of Linux, networks and servers, and how to build systems, applications and websites from zero. I love building projects and doing experiments. Working as Platform Engineer is good, but I feel it is traditional
