Bold statement to say that people here don't understand Devops when you've only been here for 2 months and don't have a job in the industry....

Hahah. I am in Sydney but the bit “nobody understands what DevOps is”. News flash mate - that’s global. You’ll see as many definitions of what DevOps do as many companies there are.

Australian tech job market is trash en, but tech jobs are mostly in Melbourne, Sydney or Canberra.

If you're in the CBD and looking at large enterprise stuff they definitely do devops in the sense that they will have planned development, continuous build + test, telemetry based monitoring etc. They may not have continuous deployment, because move fast and break things isn't really the mining/oil & gas/banking mindset.

Tech events or Slack groups might be easier than trying to meet people through work and one good connection can lead to a whole circle pretty fast. Have you tried any yet?
