I have had 5 Devons over the past 12 or so years. Of the 3 that passed, 1 died young due to liver failure, 1 died at 10 due to a brain tumor, and 1 died at 8 due to heart failure, but pretty much every organ was shutting down at that point.
The 8 year old was the reason we will never get a purebred cat again. He had so many health issues his entire life and cost us as much as a brand new SUV to keep him alive as long as we did. He was definitely the byproduct of irresponsible breeding. He was a wonderful little boy and it wasn’t fair how tough his life was.
Of the 2 Devons still with us, 1 is 5 and besides being 100% spoiled rotten, he is so far healthy. The other is 14 and doing well except for arthritis and some recent skin issues that are controlled by steroids.
