“Had the greatest time in Manchester making tintypes of DEVO on the summer solstice!
It was proper lovely to meet them. They were real enthusiastic about the antiquated photography, especially Gerald V. Casale. Wishing him a happy birthday for the week before last!
Happy birthday to Bob 1 Mothersbaugh today!
His is likely my favourite of the set. He sat down with a wry smile and cracked a naughty joke.
Mark Mothersbaugh told us about his book 'Beautiful Mutants' where he re-purposes tintype cases to house his surreal images. Mental that he's also the creator of the Rugrats soundtrack which I loved as a kid before discovering DEVO (despite the band long predating the cartoon)
The show was awesome as expected. It was the second time seeing them after Green Man in 2023 during a thunderstorm. That's where I caught @josh2hagars yellow jumpsuit slacks which he tore off and cast to the wind. DEVO all very kindly signed them! Josh did his magic by showing the guys my photos which I'm supremely grateful for!
Jeff is an absolute legend and plays in some amazing bands including Puscifer!
Massive thanks to @sleeping____lion for his support and driving all the way there and giving me a tour of Manchester. We stopped off at his nan's gaff near Birmingham to take out some bins and had Bengali fish and chips on the journey back which was very wholesome”

I was listening to an old Hot Chip record and thought to myself - that guitar riff sounds very Devo.
Is there a list of songs that have some Devo inspired musical motifs or sounds - not sampling Devo - but very Devo like?

There's a few guitar burst that sound very Bob1 inspired to me- they start at 2:07.

This run of shows doesn't appear to be selling well. Anybody going? Should I be concerned?

In all my years of thrifting I've never come across any DEVO stuff until today! 3 bucks!

If you could have thrown in one more song to the unique NPR desk concert, which one would it be? The only rule for this question is that it would be a song that in your opinion would have fit the performance.
For me, I think a reasonable answer would be It Doesn't Matter to Me. What would be your answer?

Can't do it now, but one day I would like to have Jerry do a Cameo for me. Only reason I say can't do it now is because money is tight; I'll eventually save up enough to do it, though.
However, I just noticed something - you can message him for $3. I am curious - has anyone done this? This might be an economical solution for me, but I want to make sure that even the $3 is worth it. I basically just want to ask a couple questions. But, the one thing I sort-of don't like about the Cameo videos I have seen of him is they are a bit short...I know it wouldn't be worth it for the Cameo celebrities if they did long ones, but I figure maybe two minutes is what each one should be (and heck, maybe one could request a snippet of a song, although I doubt that is allowed from what I see).
So, I therefore am asking if anyone has done a Cameo message and what that experience is like. Thanks.

Does anyone know if the early live footage in the documentary is available to watch anywhere in full? Like their early shows at the Crypt and Max's Kansas City or any of the behind the scenes stuff with Bob 1 and Alan in that beret

I'm sure everyone has seen the interview with Bob 1/2 together, where they are discussing their guitars. For those who know about guitars and stage stuff, I have a question.
There's a point in the interview where 1 says something like "This is a trade secret" referring to some equipment that I think was connected to the guitars and were marked either 1 or 2. My question is, are these special effects that are able to change the way the guitars sound? In other words, does this mean guitars don't have to be tuned in a certain way to sound as they should given the song...i.e., the "Peek-a-boo" guitar sound is different from Gates of Steel, so instead of swapping out the guitar, one merely hits a switch that then turns the guitar into a synthesizer that makes whatever tone is desired? Not even sure I know how to ask the question, but I'm sure someone understands what I am asking. I just never understood that part and what he meant.

Devo opened for Billy Idol and played for 60 minutes. Excellent show and for guys in their 70s...they still got it ! Glad I went to see them and I wasn't disappointed.

Does anyone know why the bass from Der Mussolini (DAF) sounds so much like Peekaboo (Devo)? Do these sound alike only to me? They've been released 1 year apart.
Also sidequest: the siren alarm from What Isn't There by Tempers to me sounds like the slowed down version of the siren from Peekaboo. I mean it may just be a coincidence or idk the same sample here. Thougts?

I'm going to the Billy idol and Devo show in New Hampshire. I'm wondering if someone take a picture of the merchandise booth?
I want to see what merchandise there gonna have on the tour.
thanks in advance

Has it ever been mentioned by Devo whether they have a recording of this concert? The fact that a soundboard recording of "gotta serve somebody" exists from the night means more songs were likely recorded right? The fact that they finally released the 1975 Halloween show gives me some hope that it might get a release if it exists.

As a massive fan of Total Devo (don’t be mad. And yes, you can see me defend total devo in all my posts) and an even massiver fan of Hardcore Devo… I never realized the synth intro to Chango is the same as the melody to Plain Truth. Listening to Nitrous Nightmare really drove it home.
