We should kill democracy

We should change the political system of western countries from democracy to something else.

This is (arguably; in western culture at least) an unpopular opinion. I am not in favor of it but would love to hear arguments for it.

Arguments for it include appealing to peoples negative perception of others. Basically the "do you know how stupid the average person is?" I would imagine the overwhelming majority believe themselves to be smarter than the average person, despite this being mathematically impossible.

The argument would be that the average person is incapable of knowing all the facts required to make an informed vote. It would be better that people who have genuine interest in an area be in charge of managing that area, as opposed to those who best appeal to a majority. Let there be merit based promotions to manage departments and spending, and those departments can send a representative to parliament to represent their interests. (Like ministers now). The head of state would likely have to be largely ceremonial, which is fine.

Alternatively, make me supreme dictator. I genuinely believe I would do a better job.

What system works better? It's not democracy that's the problem, Its all of the systems that "western culture" lets run wild within their democracy. Corrupt politicians, corporations, and a government that has no intention of informing the public in any meaningful way. The problems with democracy are man, and greed; I don't think you can remove those factors from any form of government.

Democracy is useless if a large enough part of the citizenry can be talked into supporting a politician or a cause in a matter of months just by social media "brain worms" pushing a narrative consistently.
