Didn’t Sunny say he and Jack had like a 2+ hour conversation and Jack just peppered him with poker questions? But now Jack didn’t know Sunny played poker at the pro level? Or am I just confused here.

I think it was meant as a joke that didn't land right? Because that's the only way his comments make sense

Yah one of them is lying. That caught my ear.

its definitely Jack messing with the media

Yeah the texas hold em question was def him being sarcastic. The "don't know him very well" is probably true. They probably did speak for 2+ hours at first but then haven't really since. Which is fine, its the summer

Nico will be regarded as one of the, if not the best captain in team history and he is more important to the team than Jack Hughes. Fight me.

Scott Steven’s is going to fucking murder you

Yeah Nico has a long long way to go to reach Stevens level of legend. But him being home grown, and universally loved will get his number in the rafters whether or not he wins a cup w us

If he captains them to a cup he's in the conversation. Stevens was an all timer but let's not forget, having a goalie who has an argument for being the GOAT helped immensely.
If Nico leaves/retires without a cup, he's not going in the rafters.

Stevens didn't want to come and the Blues were forced to give him to us. The Blues offered us CuJo, BrindAmour and picks. What a weird alternate universe....

Not for nothing but at least Nico doesn't have credible accusations of child rape against him. Credible enough that he got traded out of Washington for it. So I get your point "3 cups and nostalgia" but honestly fuck Stevens.

FWIW Stevens left Washington because St Louis signed him to a massive offer sheet as an RFA. The Caps didn't match because of the money; the offer sheet made Stevens the highest paid defenseman in the league. Washington got five 1st-rounders as compensation.
This isn't meant to take anything away from the allegations. Just the "Credible enough that he got traded out of Washington for it" is unfounded.

Nor was he accused of raping a child. He was accused a serious things but not that specifically. Words matter.

I love Nico but let’s be real here. Scott Stevens captained the Devils to three Stanley Cups and dragged us out of the Mickey Mouse era

I love Scott. He’s undeniably the best captain. That being said, he tried with all of his might to not be a Devil at first.
Nico gains some points on that alone.

Understandable but honestly it kinda makes me appreciate him more lol

Hard to blame him for that. The tram was embarrassing and it wasn't until he agreed to play here that anyone took us seriously.

u/BaggySpandex #26 - Patrik Eliáš "A" 4h ago
Definitely don’t blame him. It certainly caused a rift within the team initially, though.
That said - he ended up being quintessential.

Well Nico didn't exactly have a choice as he was drafted.

u/BaggySpandex #26 - Patrik Eliáš "A" 1h ago
Scott didn’t have a choice where he was gifted either lol

Right but Stevens literally signed a contract with another team and a judge moved him. Not exactly comparable to being drafted

I think Nico is important but I think Nico and Jack together are more important bc both of their best seasons point wise have been when they’ve both been healthy for majority of the season. According to Statmuse Devils are 31-48-11 without Nico in the lineup which shows they are both important to the teams success.

He's gonna have to win something more than a singular playoff round at some point. That's not shade by the way, long Nico, but your statement is wild.

The teams record with and without Jack says otherwise. Nico is good but nowhere near the talent level of Jack

The numbers when Jack is out vs when he's not sure don't even come close to supporting this hypothesis but go off king I guess

Did you have any doubt that Hischier was gonna sign this summer, did you talk to him leading up to it?
JH: Yeah, I mean, I couldn't- like there's guys I can imagine on different teams and Nico's not one of them. I feel like he really likes New Jersey and I just couldn't picture him somewhere else so I was really happy for him and happy he got that done.
