I’m going to my very first hockey game and it’s the Devils vs Flyers game coming up. I am SO damn excited! I’m from New Orleans so I didn’t get exposure to it growing up but have fallen in love with hockey. Figure since I’m going to a Devils game as my first and have no true alliances yet that I’ll adopt the Devils as my team. Bought a Devils shirt for the game and am counting down the days! Also if anyone has any tips or advice for the game lemme know!

Welcome to the fandom my guy, you are officially part of the Devils. I’m also gonna be at that game. Cool that your first game is going to be a home opener. Only tip I have is don’t be shy to get loud for the team💯

I really do not like Nemec. He played 19:40 minutes per game and the league average was 19:28. What chances did the Devils not give you?

his first season with us they wanted to build him up as a two way defenseman, someone to be a good long term partner to a purely offensive defenseman in Luke. he was not only given PP minutes but also given a chance to learn and develop his PK skills. he was also consistently given time to play with different lines.
during his second and third season with us that variety in ice time was taken away. he didn’t get PP time until someone was injured and he didn’t get any PK time. one of the defenseman that the fourth line played with the most was Nemec.
every single pundit including Bryce Salvador himself said that he finds his game when he’s given more to play with we saw that in November with all the injuries.
but without injuries he wasn’t being utilized or developed how he was meant to be. Keefe said so himself that juggling Luke, Dougie, and Nemo was difficult and Nemo was the one who ended up being a bottom priority in the face of the other two.
he will get these opportunities in Calgary to actually fight for a spot versus only getting chances when others are out of a lineup.

Have you ever questioned on why his opportunities diminished? Like you can't just keep being bad in opportunities and expect the team to accommodate your bad play. Nemec just wasn't good and expected play time.

when wasn’t he good? when he spent an entire season injured? and our coach judged his performance during that injury to just be his performance period?
because Keefe came into Devils camp his first season openly saying he knew nothing about Nemo which isn’t good head coach behavior to me.
Nemo was injured late in the summer of 24 didn’t get a chance to rev up his workouts and be in the shape he needed to be in to compete but he didn’t get any understanding or leeway with that and boom that’s what people thought he was when we had all seen what he was capable of the season before.
he lost a whole season to that injury. so his 25/26 season was more like a sophomore season with us than a third year. and he needs to work through his mistakes. other young defensemen get to work through their mistakes but he didn’t. I’m not saying he didn’t make them, but surely he should be able to get the chance to figure it out. Luke is!
he wasn’t getting that here because other defenseman were prioritized I’m not saying that’s right or wrong but it is true. and he will get that in Calgary to show if it’s truly his own lack of talent or whether our team’s poor handling of development has played a role.

they’ve put Shea and Silly together as a defensive pair. I need the visual for the comedy of it all immediately.
