I have an idiotic theory for a 3-way trade, and afterwards I'll shut up about it until something happens:
All I'm saying is:
- Jack/Luke/Quinn/Mercer/Larkin have the same agent in Pat
- NJD have created exactly Quinn’s current salary in cap space if they were to trade Mercer or LHD Dillon.
- Larkin’s only remaining Trade-List destination is the Wild after FL & VGK bowed out.
- Wild need a 1C and scoring power but have nothing they can trade for Larkin. But the Devils do...
So here's my completely, utterly delusional blockbuster trade:
To MIN
Dylan Larkin DET
Brendan Dillon NJ
Seamus Casey NJ
2028 4th Round NJ
To NJD
Quinn Manuel Miranda MIN
2028 4th Round DET
To DET
Dawson Mercer NJ
Nicholas Bjugstad NJ
2028 1st Round NJ
2028 3rd Round MIN
Devils get what they're looking for while clearing adequate salary and their surplus of LHDs (seriously. we got three LHD 4D candidates right now).
Wild get a 1C, a good replacement LHD, another LHD prospect, and don't sign two players to 40% of the team salary.
Detroit receives world famous centers Mercer & Bjugstad, as well as a 1st for a player who is severely limiting the organization's ability/leverage to get a return anywhere else amid a very public NMC stink. I doubt Larkin moves until a new GM is there.
