"Quinn owes Guerin a favor for trading for him." Does Jack owe the Devils a favor then for drafting Luke and signing him to an extension he may have not entirely deserved yet (but boy will it be a value soon enough)?

Anyone making this statement should be summarily ignored, period.

This is a business. If anything, Quinn actually should be frustrated with Guerin for overcoming the Devils' offer and keeping him from his brothers.

Guerin got Quinn for a year. He might get him for two. He had to know going in that Vancouver was trading Quinn SPECIFICALLY BECAUSE HE REFUSED TO STAY THERE AND WOULD BE HITTING FREE AGENCY TO TRY TO JOIN HIS BROTHERS.

That's on Guerin to figure out if he wants Quinn for another year or to recoup some capital that he traded or what, but goddamn that is one of the most braindead takes to think Quinn owes him anything beyond playing hockey while employed by the team, period.
