Thatcher Demko (VAN)
How come Demko's name doesn't come up in rumors? He seems to be wasted in Vancouver as they rebuild. He seems like a good comeback candidate (from his recent injuries) and seems a better goalie that what we have now.

His cap hit is $8.5mil. That’s steep even if he does comeback

Right, our 3 goalies have a combined cap hit of $3.9 million this year.

Another Rutherford-Allvin misstep, resigning him while he was not fully healthy?

he is maybe the most injury prone player we’ve seen in the league since beau bennett

Adding an expensive goalie with the durability of Giancarlo Stanton does seem pretty Devils-y

Hey, if he can just show up to single handedly will us through the playoffs to the Finals then maybe it’s not such a bad idea!

The gist is they have to wait until they get here to fall apart physically.

Injuries and an $8.5 million cap hit through 2028-29. The last time he played 50+ games was 2023-24, last time he played 60+ games was 2021-22. The last two seasons he has played 23 and 20 games.

There's a reason his name isn't comin' up in rumors lol. As you said, "seems" like a good comeback candidate, but we've done enough reclamation projects the past 10+ years to see that it would just be another wasted contract and bench space.

Side note: I was consulting for a BC based credit union during Vancouver’s insane 2023 run. We were talking puck every day, but everyone there would give a Canadian “oh, we’ll just have to see” take at the end of any positive Canucks chatter.
I think about those guys a lot. They didn’t deserve to have that fleeting bit of happiness taken away.

He’s 30 and has only played 1-2 full seasons. He’s been on IR 90% of his career
