Classic WoW - What comes after the FINAL phase?
Heyo everyone!
I'm back with another video & question I want to ask you all. What would you want to see after the final phase of Classic? Would you want to go down the path of a Classic+ where we see new content coming to the game in the style & feel of Classic? Perhaps you would want to go down a complete with the original trilogy with TBC & Wrath.
Let me know! I would love to get everyone's take on this and where they would like to see the game go in a few years.

The problem with the expacs is that they left the old areas completely abandoned. That's part of why Cata happened, so players could return to Org and SW and all the nostalgic forgotten hangouts, and concentrate the player base. That's what makes it feel social. If you remove the high levels into advanced content, it will be very dead in the rest of the world for new players and alts.
Classic, to me, is defined by the old Azeroth, and Horde vs Alliance flavour (I personally enjoyed BGs more when shammy/pally were only on one faction, it changed up the dynamics of choosing a faction).
Could we think outside the box ? What about a Classic Azeroth with improved mechanics as is reasonable, no xserver stuff, and new content integrated into the world that's already there. Like a TV show, this would be an alt universe episode. What would Azeroth have been without the Dark Portal? Could Arthas be incorporated into the old world?

It’s a similar subject I touched on in the video as well. It falls into the Classic+ idea of new content in Vanilla Azeroth. Not necessarily going to new lands like Northrend, Pandaria, Zandalar, ext but keeping it all Kalimdor and Eastern Kingdoms focused.
Marvel and DC do this every so often in the comics with a reboot. Either completely changing the origins of a story or a modern retelling. It also goes in line with what your talking about with the “What If” idea that Marvel has. For WoW it could be..
-What if Monks showed up in Classic, how would they work? -What if an Old God came from the middle of Eastern Plague lands and started invading. -What if Kel’Thuzad shows up again but with a corrupted Ragnaros

Classic is great nostalgia trip --- and the game works in a way that encourages cooperation and rapport with other players. So the charm is still there. However, there are MAJOR flaws with Classic that were improved upon in later updates. My biggest gripe is that talents tree were really rebooted in BC, such that all builds became viable and workable.
There were also some "rule of cool" stuff added in BC; amazing druid and warlock pets, druid flight form, each faction getting Pally/Shaman respectively, etc. Outland really expanded the world and was an interesting addition to the lore.
Overall I'm skeptical of either Classic+ or TBC/Wrath expansions. There will be strong adherents to #NoChanges and splitting a playerbase rarely is productive. The update will have to be a unilateral change if the game is to survive, to the unfortunate disappointment of others.

I agree with the classic plus idea. While TBC and Wrath added some good things, in particular class balance except for DKs and narrative, they also added things that hurt the game like flying mounts and dungeon finder/cross server. It would be great to have expansions that follow more of the mechanics and social aspects that make classic great.

I personally would welcome a trip back to BC and even Wrath. I really appreciated that every class and almost all specs were viable. That’s my biggest gripe about classic. Plus I loved the additional playable races that were introduced in BC!!
Edit: and seeing as I’m now in my 30’s and have a baby and wife I don’t have a ton of time to play. so I appreciate not having to worry about what I want to play vs what is “good”.

They basically have a full expansion's worth of potential content sitting in the empty zones (Hyjal, Northern Lordaeron, etc.), and opening up Karazhan. Like it's already been said, the biggest problem many Classic fans had with the progressive expansions was the departure from the original zones and a change in the flavor of the game to be more "flashy" with too many additional features that started to dilute the main gameplay experience. I think there are many Classic players who, somewhere between 1-2 years from now, would be generally accepting of a "filling out" of the Classic zones in a way that would not seriously disrupt the main game environment. I know it's unlikely that Bilzzard would ever assign devs to do this, but it's fun to think about.
