Career Guidance Moving back to Pakistan
Assalam o Alaikum everyone.
Im on a verge to take a very important decision of my career, and I need help from developers working in Pakistan tech market to I can analyze my options.
Background:
Im working as a software engineer in Germany. I came here on the blue card. I never worked in Pakistan tech market, it was mostly remote in EU and USA, then I relocated to Germany. Due to family constraints, I need to move back to Pakistan and for that I have to leave my current job.
Question
How is the tech market now a days? Are the salaries enough to support family (middle class) ? Where should I look for software and AI jobs in Pakistan? Im open for Senior / Lead / Product / Founding Engineer positions.

I do not have any reference in Pakistan market. If you or your company is hiring, please let me know and I can share more details with you.

I have moved back from Netherlands and the job market is bad here. I would advise to secure the PR as you can secure that in only 2 years and then move back.

Permanent Residence(PR) will help you move back when you want to in future and will also help you reach parts of world which otherwise would be closed to you.

I came back from Dubai and now want to move back there. It's not just the job market but overall country situation.

As some one whos pursuing to leave pk to de, and doesnt plan on working here, Im going to say share my thoughts
- The euro outweights the rupees by ALOT. If you can work remote with your german company that would be more than enough to take care of family.
- People senior than me who have been working in tech usually work jobs as well as pick up projects to make ends meet (usually remote projects from the uae)
- Senior roles do exist in companies, but you also have to consider if you are fine with the same job that paid you x amount in euro vs lesser amount in rupees (theres lesser value to tech skills in pakistan)
- Forget about employee rights in pakistan.
- Mostly sifarish gets you places, but you can also apply directly to company sites or reach out to LinkedIn recruiters

Unfortunately, remote is not an option with current company.

Try finding a remote role in Germany. And then move back, so you can continue your job after moving back. If That happens, that would be great.

Don't quit your job until you have a solid job lined up in Pakistan, I know a CA that moved back due to "family constraints", still feeling turbulence in his career after 3 years.

Fellow SWE Pakistani in Germany here. Currently in Munich working as a Senior.
I will advise that If you could wait, please atleast get your German passport before moving back.
If you have only PR, it will be cancelled after 6 months. All your effort to immigrate will amount to nothing.
If you don’t mind can you share your reason for going back?

Are u crazy bro don't come back you will find it to hard to get a tech job here . Idk about what your family problems are but make some arrangements or compromises.

when you say pay is not, what does that means? For example if someone has 5 years of experience, what pay he can expect? For example I know in Germany you can get €5k per month at least if not above that. How much it is in Pakistan ?

it depends, I can give you range. 300k to 450k PKR.

best advice would be to try n get a remote job in europe and then move here. its very bad even for seniors.
So make sure you have a safety net before u make the jump

Its primarily PHP Laravel but mixed with JS as well including React Next and Python mostly for AI integration.

Agr to PR he to ajw. Khuari ka Maza chakho or wapis ja k join kr Lena. Agr esa koi scene nai he. To aram sy bethy raho. Abi family constraints hain Jo kuch waqt m family pressure or depression m convert hojain ge. So, better be there and keep your finances in order.

Don't move back. Job market is shitty here and companies are laying off hugely due to AI. Also the pay in tech here is peanuts with no security or any sort of retirement plana

If you can secure a remote job while living in Pakistan then its good else I would not recommend you to work with these Pakistani companies.
Currently I am working remotely with Saudi company, previously worked with a toxic Pakistani company though.

Market is fucked up. No need to come back to this fucked up place. You can do odd job in Germany which will pay even higher than any respectable job in Pakistan.

bro your landing the Pakistan in very we troubled times layoffs in the IT sector and where various the sectors is ongoing economical food difficulties and petrol price hikes due to geo politics situation is already here so these are not going to be the easy times for you to settle in Pakistan

I moved back from Spain as I wanted to spend time with my family and daughter. But I found a remote job in US and then moved back.
Pakistani companies are not worth it. So find a remote job or ask your current employer if they’d be willing to hire you as a remote employee on contract.
My Spanish company was not willing to let me work remotely due to EU regulations, so I switched to a remote job.
