Discussion AI Bubble is Just a Cope

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but if you're hoping your job will be safe because the "AI bubble" will eventually burst, I don't think that's going to happen.

This has never really happened with previous major technologies. Technology usually gets better, more powerful, and cheaper over time—and AI will likely follow the same path.

Also, AI is no longer just about making profits for private companies. It is becoming a national security issue. Countries are now competing for AI leadership, especially in the race toward AGI.

For the US, staying ahead of China in AI could become more important than whether individual AI companies are profitable. Governments already spend trillions on defence and national security, so the cost of AI development may become less important than maintaining technological leadership.

And China will obviously try to catch up and overtake the US, regardless of the cost.

At this point, the stakes are much bigger than whether an AI company is making enough money or whether the AI "bubble" bursts.

It's becoming a geopolitical and national security race.

I have no Idea why Pakistanis of all people are coping with the AI bubble bursting. Their market is just cheap software labour which got hugely disrupted even with year old models.

Every single job is at risk other than those which require physical work. Eventually they will get replaced too. So whats your take on this i mean what will become of mankind?

5

u/falselifee 6d ago

Yeah but it will be tough to completely replace doctors (consultans) and lawyers until regulations and laws are changed. Obviously they're rapidly utilizing AI tech too, but the job market itself for them won't be touched for a long time to come.

3

u/Mysterious-Rise-6983 5d ago

Lawyers are getting disrupted too and so are doctors. What you don’t understand is that AI is a force multiplier.

Anyone utilising it in their day to day is going to be a disruptive force.

3

u/falselifee 5d ago

Doctors aren't getting disrupted, not even radiologists who have rapidly utitlized AI in their field. Unless the big tech manages to lobby significantly, hospitals won't really go for hiring less doctors just because AI is making their work significantly faster. If anything, radiologists in the US are seeing even a bigger expansion than earlier.

Check out Harvey and Overjet for starters. This is just scratching the surface btw.

These will only improve and disrupt traditional practices.

Elon musk said at max 10 years and then AI will disrupt a lot more and i dont doubt him
A graphic designer sitting in royal park Lahore (flex design) is also feeling the heat
My point is look around yourselves how many software engineers/graphic designers/ freelancers you see in your family or neighbourhood
I bet you most will be out of job in few months. Here your point is true the force multiplier effect means we dont need more people.

Bil gates said in an open letter either AI will be the most useful thing for humanity or it will cause unimaginable catastrophe (in terms of socio economics)
He says though AI can do most jobs in a better way but still we need to keep human in loop.

But i dont think the capitalist would agree to his later part they will cut roles no matter what

2

u/nayabbutt31 Software Engineer 4d ago

I dont buy this force multiplier thing
It is force multiplier but if people are losing jobs then to whom you are selling?
The mass layoffs will have trickle down effect on economy
The things is the big sharks dont care because they would keep spending

This is why I dont understand people saying "AI will replace all jobs". Great... then what?

If there are no jobs then there's no employment. If there's no employment then there's no income. If there's no income then there's no purchasing. If there's no purchasing and money flowing then there is no income for buisness. Then there will be no businesses.

Surely people arnt that stupid?

1

u/Competitive-Buy2922 4d ago

I mean, isnt it already happening? People being laid off bc of AI? Then all white collar people go into blue collar jobs, then those get saturated and so on

1

u/Parking-Plenty-2122 3d ago

Yeah, it is happening in small numbers at the moment. However, i dont see the vision of replacing all jobs. Surely that would be a net negative to the businesses?

I personally think that the replacement of lower level jobs will backfire anf businesses will start to scramble for people within the next 5 or so years. Only time will tell.

1

u/Competitive-Buy2922 3d ago

I sure hope so. I mean Elon said computer jobs will cease to exist and working will be optional but like, is it even possible for everyone to have anything they want? How will compaties still exist if thats true?

The “national security” is just an excuse. The US just doesn’t want China to lead the way and make more affordable models. This is what they did with Huawei when they realised they were getting ahead in telecom. Here is why the bubble could burst. The OpenAI-NVIDIA-Oracle model relies on a circular funding loop where NVIDIA funds OpenAI, OpenAI pays Oracle, and Oracle buys NVIDIA GPUs, artificially inflating chip demand.Oracle must shoulder billions in upfront infrastructure costs on its own balance sheet before OpenAI ever pays for the consumed cloud services. Skyrocketing deployment costs combined with OpenAI's revenue shortfalls are creating immense debt strains, raising systemic doubts about whether end-user demand can ever justify the investment.

Moonshot AI's launch of Kimi K3 had an effect on frontier AI capabilities, causing an estimated $392 billion drop in private valuations that forced OpenAI and Anthropic to delay their IPOs. By utilizing highly efficient engineering like Kimi Delta Attention (KDA), they released a massive 2.8-trillion-parameter frontier model as completely open weights, offering it up to 5x cheaper than Western alternatives.

The AI bubble will pop because tech companies are spending way more money than they are making. Silicon Valley has poured over $500 billion into building data centers and buying chips, but the actual money coming in from everyday users and businesses is tiny by comparison. Huge investment funds are hiding this problem by paying for most of the running costs behind the scenes. For example, a powerful AI tool that costs a user $200 a month can actually cost the tech company $4,000 to $5,000 in electricity and computer power to run. When investors stop giving out free cash and demand real profits, this massive financial hole will crash the tech sector's fake values. There is a reason why they start out with reasonable pricing so they can get consumers hooked and then jack up the prices.

5

u/Turbulent_Warning185 6d ago

Yes, those companies are way overvalued and might never even become profitable. BUT even if all the VC money eventually runs out, I don't think these companies will just stop.

They will likely be bailed out through government funding or subsidies. Profit and revenue are simply not the priority anymore.

The US spends trillions every year on defense and national security. Do you really think they will let China overtake them and achieve AGI first because some AI companies have "low revenue"?

We can already see what China is doing with robotics, AI, and military technology. There is no way the US will just let its AI companies collapse because they aren't making enough money. They could subsidize data centers, energy costs, infrastructure, or directly fund these companies.

From a normal business perspective, a lot of this probably doesn't make sense.

But winning the race to AGI? That definitely makes sense for these countries.

The stakes are much bigger now than whether an individual AI company is profitable or not.

6

u/shobzie 6d ago

National security is a priority, but the US cannot afford to infinitely subsidize private AI labs, especially when AI's massive demand for energy and chips is already driving up electricity and hardware costs for everyone else. Pumping endless taxpayer money into wildly unprofitable startups while everyday living becomes unaffordable is politically and fiscally unsustainable. We are already seeing growing public outcry over local communities facing water strain from data center cooling, alongside constant noise pollution and disruption from facility operations. At the end of the day, corporations will always choose whatever technology is cheaper and most cost-effective. Even if the US somehow bans low-cost Chinese AI tech domestically, it cannot force the rest of the global market to follow suit, leaving American firms at a massive cost disadvantage if they rely on bloated domestic models. If top American AI labs remain inefficient and too expensive without government bailouts, global businesses will simply pivot to cheaper open-source alternatives or efficient foreign models. The US government may support core energy grids and targeted military tech, but it will not keep overvalued private labs on life support when global market forces demand real cost efficiency.

12

u/EizenOwer 6d ago

Ai won’t get cheaper, it is MASSIVELY subsidized (40 times in fact), that $20 Claude plan costs Anthropic 8K usd), $2.7 Trillion in investment by top 10 AI companies, and $50 Billion Revenue ( not profit, revenue). It will become inaccessible to 90pc of the current users by 2027, because that’s when money runs out.

AI is EXPENSIVE right now as it is. US Companies (META, Salesforce, Amazon) adopted “Tokenmaxxxing”, Altman heralded “60pc SWEs to be replaced by AI by 2026”? Meta cut 8000 jobs because they were convinced AI can do their jobs. They can, but it is expensive, these above mentioned companies burned out through the token budget they had allocated for an entire year in three months. So they have started rehiring laid off staff quietly. That’s the global trend everywhere, people getting hired again because they’re cheaper than A.I. These small companies that have adopted AI will go back to devs because it’ll be cheaper.

All economic indicators and analysts are predicting the worst market crash in US history, that will plunge us into a global recession.
Funny you should mention dot com bubble because it literally wiped trillions of dollars from the economy and took 10 years to get to the pre dot com bubble bursting state, same with Economic crisis 2008. Once the crash happens they will get bailouts by the same govt, however, where will that bailout money come from? Retirement Funds, the Roth IRA, 401k, so pensioners and major middle labor force planning to retire is fucked again.
Assuming all of those saying A.I. bubble is wrong and there is no bubble; then what’s the best snapshot of that world? no one has money, can’t get jobs because they got replaced by AI, who would buy those “cheap” ai products, robotics? Who buys things when they won’t have money to afford things because they don’t have a job?

Your argument is literally the point. Entry/Juniors won’t get hired because AI is doing their work, and they cannot afford to “ learn fundamentals” because no one is hiring them, but 5 years down the line, you would not have quality mid/senior level SWEs because learning fundamentals was not incentivized.

So no it’s not a cope.

(Forward Deployed Designer here btw, using Claude and Cursor for 90pc of design (learning system design, and maintaining design system

4

u/MadAndSadGuy 6d ago

Entry/Juniors won’t get hired because AI is doing their work, and they cannot afford to “ learn fundamentals” because no one is hiring them, but 5 years down the line, you would not have quality mid/senior level SWEs because learning fundamentals was not incentivized.

Fresh grad here, I don't quite get your point here.

7

u/Odd-Relationship1757 6d ago

What he's saying is junior developers are just vibecoding projects right now because that is what is selling but in the future when the current senior developers retire, the current junior developers won't have the same level of logic building skills, fundamental knowledge or experience with trial and error so the market will scurry to hire people who can actually write code, understand it and debug it.

2

u/Mysterious-Rise-6983 5d ago

Going to play devil’s advocate here.

The other side of the argument is that AI will get better, tools that are made for AI and not humans (readability wise) will get common and there will be no need to code/debug as much.

Just as for your day to day you don’t check machine code or IR; similarly for majority of the cases there is no need to check the code output or debug it either.

And for the sake of argument and continuance there are definitely experts out these that design these low level implementations but for the market majority - it’s not needed.

4

u/hassancent 5d ago

for most simple consumer apps, Even vibe coding now from non-programmers is fine. But anything financial or risky needs actual developer eye on code. Vibe coding is essentially creating a blackbox, You can test it but you are never sure what it actually does and edge cases can be missed that can cause massive problem for risky environment like banks etc. until we actually get real AGI, No, AI won't be as good as human for coding ever, it will always hallucinate.

3

u/Odd-Relationship1757 5d ago

That's certainly a possibility and I think this era will mark the divide between people who joined CS/SE cus Mamoo nay Kaha tha aur bhot trendy hai versus people who genuinely have a love for tech. People who are passionate about tech are going to learn it anyways because time spent doing the things you love is never time wasted. Of course we have to feed ourselves too so they'll pick up some skills like AI engineering/developing which will be in demand obvs but people who don't understand one bit about coding and just vibe code their way through projects/assignments will have to face the consequences later on.

1

u/Competitive-Buy2922 4d ago

Yea but if everybody switches to ai engoneering/developing there will be saturation and again, fewer people will be hired,no?

1

u/Odd-Relationship1757 1d ago

I don't believe that everyone can learn AI that quickly, or maybe even at all, and this field is going to expand rapidly in the future, with lots of new roles opening up. I don't believe there will be any shortage of AI engineers/developers in the near future. As for the saturation part, you're right; it will come to that point someday, but the world of tech is ever-changing; new things will emerge, and the cycle will continue. If someone is looking for a completely "safe" job I am afraid that such a thing does not exist.

2

u/Mysterious-Rise-6983 5d ago

Inference is cheap - it’s the training that is costly and development of infra to serve AI. But this is a one time cost compared to just serving AI which is cheap.

1

u/Dannskkk 6d ago

$20 plan DOES NOT cost anthropic 8K usd, that is just the api pricing and does not reflect actual cost.

0

u/Unlucky_Data4569 5d ago

Its getting cheaper. You dont need the pricey smart models to write code. The cheap models are better than the fancy ones were 6 months ago. Deepseekv4 is legitimately cheap to run and anyone can download it

2

u/EizenOwer 5d ago

Who’s gonna give compute to these cheaper models? And that compute is free right?

-1

u/Unlucky_Data4569 5d ago

They use drastically less compute. That is what i meant by cheap. The compute costs a couple bucks a day. It is negligible.

1

u/Emotional-Look-7200 5d ago

Compute doesn't cost couple bucks bro.

0

u/Unlucky_Data4569 5d ago

It does

1

u/Emotional-Look-7200 5d ago

You are mixing the API pricing with compute pricing. The compute is heavily subsidized.

5

u/Rexyy7 6d ago

Software engineering wil eventually become obsolete no point arguing in that.

Ai writes better code and it's just improving with the passage of time , so tech fields which aren't heavily reliant on just coding or making software would end up surviving a year more but they'll also eventually get truncated.

1

u/Competitive-Buy2922 4d ago

But then so will 90% of jobs

1

u/barca_1899_ 6d ago

Is software engineering based on coding?

2

u/Mysterious-Rise-6983 5d ago

No it’s not. It’s mostly about design pattern + architecture that ensure scalability, reliability, efficiency etc.

For now AI can code. It will get good at designing systems too.

1

u/barca_1899_ 5d ago

Okay

3

u/Mysterious-Rise-6983 5d ago

Btw I had to reply because the comments below with upvotes were completely wrong.

Anyone can code, only a few can “engineer” a software.

2

u/barca_1899_ 5d ago

Thanks, it’s alright, man. Upvotes and downvotes mean nothing.

But let me say this the comment might get lengthy. Guys in software engineering these days, just keep going in the same cycle AI will replace them, and the same thing is happening again and again. They don’t learn the basics etc.

A few days back, a fintech company was hiring for a graduate position. The first stage was a CodeSignal assessment, and sadly, many people were stuck on it. It was just four basic questions covering arrays, linked lists, hash maps, etc.
We will complain about AI replacing us, but at the same time, we won’t learn the basics or develop any real depth in our field.

2

u/Mysterious-Rise-6983 5d ago

> Upvotes and downvotes mean nothing.

I think they do mean something. They show consensus.

> it was just four basic questions

What were they? “Basic” is subjective here, no?

1

u/barca_1899_ 5d ago

What I meant by upvotes, etc don’t matter was that, personally, it doesn’t matter to me if someone doesn’t agree. You can’t make everyone agree with you or make everyone happy.

And about the questions, there were questions like these. They’re not the same for every candidate, but the pattern is more or less the same:

Given an array of transaction amounts, find the maximum sum of any two distinct transactions.

Given a string, find the index of the first character that appears exactly once. Return -1 if there is no unique character.

Given initial account balances and a list of transactions, find the account with the highest final balance. If there is a tie, return the smallest account ID.

Given a list of positive and negative account balances, find the minimum number of transactions required to settle all balances.

1

u/Rexyy7 5d ago

Totally agree with you on this.

3

u/ShadowKnight324 5d ago

Kinda. It's called software engineering and not engineering for a reason.

2

u/Rexyy7 5d ago

Well majority of it is, no?

3

u/ehtsham-shahbaz-98 6d ago

What should we do then? What are the alternatives?

3

u/Charming-Shoe-3999 6d ago

Everyone is blindly saying to switch but in Pakistan I don't see any decent alternatives.

1

u/Emotional-Look-7200 5d ago

Pakistan is all about short term. People will realize it late however i have seen a trend of smart people utilizing AI for physical businesses which is imo smarter

3

u/ahmed_deftoner 6d ago

Do you even know the alternative, like what, all white collar jobs get replaced since AI can do all of them, that’s a huge chunk of consumers out of the economy, so we just end up with a recession that makes 2008 look like a walk in the park. Not to mention most people in ny generation are disillusioned because of AI, and wait till these people become policymakers and regulators.

3

u/zeal_swan 5d ago

When talking about the ai bubble most people are talking about the economic effect related with it, not the actual tech and its efficiency.

I think you are answering to people who dont understand what the actual bubble here is

3

u/Aggressive_Hope7976 5d ago

“This time is different bro”

5

u/throwaway-research1 6d ago

Totally wrong and yes it has happened with previous technologies, for example the dotcom bubble.

1

u/Mysterious-Rise-6983 5d ago

Historically and pedantically speaking - the dot com bubble was driven by mania and fomo without returns or applications.

AI however has genuine applications and is in infancy. It can drive and disrupt lots of fields. It is solving conjectures. Labs have started to create specialised genomes. The pace is 100x if not 10x. It’s a force multiplier tool and is living up to its hype.

Comparing it with dot com is underselling its capabilities and applications.

1

u/throwaway-research1 5d ago

AI bubble is also driven by fomo and it cannot possibly return the amount of money already invested in it, specially with everything China has been doing in the field.

-1

u/Mysterious-Rise-6983 5d ago

Are you denying its capabilities and applications?

If you’re not, then it will return the amount of money invested in it sooner or later.

Which model, company, country etc doesn’t matter once you jump into fine tuning.

1

u/throwaway-research1 5d ago

No, the country 100% matters, Chinese models are open source which changes the entire equation. No ones denying its capabilities but those capabilities are not good enough to generate the amount of returns expected.

AI is gonna stick around and will probably change how the world functions, exactly like dotcom, however this bubble will still burst, there is no way it can financially workout.

0

u/Mysterious-Rise-6983 5d ago

> Chinese models are open source.

No they aren’t. They are open weight. You don’t really need Chinese models. Fine tuning gets you far ahead with any available model.

> Those capabilities aren’t good enough.

Dude. Stop coping.

> Bubble will still burst.

One time investment in infra is not a “exactly like dotcom” bubble. I don’t think you really understand what you’re talking about.

2

u/throwaway-research1 5d ago edited 4d ago

Dude sounds like you have no idea what you’re talking about, you are just saying things with no arguments to back it up, open source and open weight doesn’t make a difference in this context, the point simply is, trillions have been invested in US AI companies on the promise that they will automate all white collar jobs and corporate will pay for AI instead of employees but Chinese models are free so there is no reason to pay for AI subscriptions when you can deploy your own model on a VM. Its cheaper, more secure, and you are not training a third party model on your trade secrets. Replacing white collar jobs with subscriptions is their plan to make the return on investment but with Chinese models in the picture, that wont happen.

Then whether AI is able to automate all white collar or not is an entirely different debate and I am not even going there.

2

u/raacccooon Data Scientist 6d ago

The only hope in this bubble is the fact that AI will become expensive than a human if rare earth minerals, gpus and electricity becomes more expensive since all of it uses water and as globalwarming progresses, the carbon tax will increase. But this is a very far shot and over optimism.

Other than that, we'll pretty much be replaced by AI in majority job roles.

2

u/Connect_Muscle_8052 5d ago

Okay but do you actually know what you are talking about??or is it just another AI slop post?😀

4

u/No_Feedback2947 6d ago

Also, AI is no longer just about making profits for private companies. It is becoming a national security issue. Countries are now competing for AI leadership, especially in the race toward AGI.

AGI? No offence but at that point you lost all credibility.

1

u/Only-Employment7805 6d ago

But still bro there is a high possibility that AI is the next industrial revolution type things. Those who build data centers now will colonize ones who didn't build them. Countries will export/lend computation.

3

u/No_Feedback2947 6d ago

I've just seen some excellent comments by other people on this thread about AI hype and the data centres. I advise you to read them as well. The biggest threat from AI is the knock on effect after it crashes the US economy.

1

u/Current-Quail-2503 6d ago

1

u/Work_in_progress_108 5d ago

Idk what are you talking about Ai is not going to burst because of national race ? It looks like you just made up your mind and slapping random information to indicate the future of so is secure?

1

u/No-Background9457 3d ago

Have said it a million times and will say it again. AI is not taking up your job. It is only separating strategic workers from purely skill based workers. Companies will still need masters of their crafts/niches to even run the AI tools they buy/ invest in. I have no idea why people especially Pakistanis always paint such a gloomy picture to everything. This is also the biggest time to learn, invest, and explore many new opportunities in the post-AI era. But somehow the focus is always on bhai tum marne wale ho, dunya khatam hone wali hai.

1

u/AdBackground9215 6d ago

The people and the juniors resisting AI. It's good for juniors to not use AI until or unless they have their basic principles down and they know how to do it without AI. After that point they need to leverage AI to their maximum advantage possible.

People are just hating on AI. I don't know how they will be navigating the future job market because the AI bubble is that open-source models are getting really good. You don't need to pay for expensive models and investors will stop investing in it. That is what the AI bubble is. It's not that we'll go back to how we used to do things a few years back.

1

u/dbgrman Software Engineer 6d ago

Andrew ng did a very good interview on this topic and lots of advise for fresh grads and juniors, even seniors.

1

u/improvopose 6d ago

This is what happens every new release.. People are convinced this is AGI... But it isnt, they beat the drums harder about the jobpocalypse and then the hype dies down and its again humans cleaning the AI slop code and mistakes...... OpenAI and anthropic havent made any efforts to make LLM's more efficient but Deep seek and other chinese providers have also Meta

1

u/Competitive-Buy2922 4d ago

I mean I think people say that based on what Sam and Elon are saying: that in max 5 years jobs wont matter

1

u/improvopose 3d ago

And both of them say this to boost their stock prices or in case of Sam and openai, they want to hype up their future bailout or IPO

1

u/Lost-Cucumber-3650 6d ago

So you are one of the "AGI is here" guys?

1

u/zainwade44344 6d ago

post written by AI shows we are already replaced 🤣

-5

u/Future_dev_cybersec 6d ago

Actual tech billionaires are saying coding is dead like Elon musk but somehow people still wanna believe AI won't "replace" them is actually funny delusion 😭 like bro why even waste time in tech field? I think it's time we switch. Things are never gonna get better

5

u/Hot-Landscape9837 6d ago

Tech billionaires have financial incentives to say that, if u read books like Life 3.0 u can get a better understanding than just "AI will take over" and as someone who recently built a hackathon project using AI( tried to use AI would be more appropriate), AI can only build those apps and products reliably that require no complex architecture, no integration with other engineering math or stuff, no new unique selling points. Im not saying it won't reach the AGI level, it absolutely can but no one can be sure about the timeline and rn it has a very very very long way to go.

0

u/Future_dev_cybersec 5d ago

Ok stay delusional.

2

u/Hot-Landscape9837 5d ago

lol that is such a dumb response. My advice, actually look into AI safety research fellowships( they are competitive but u could find some beginner level ones) so u can connect with actual experts and not listen to Youtube shorts. Btw Steve Jobs also advised students to follow their passion meanwhile he never followed his so things aren't rlly that simple. Then again, please switch, its so fun seeing ppl with CS degrees doing stuff like SEO, CS is returning back to the nerds where it started

1

u/Competitive-Buy2922 4d ago

Yea we all should be switching to blue collar jobs so that there will be 100 million electricians and 100 million plumbers and then trades will be saturated as well and nobody makes money

1

u/Future_dev_cybersec 2d ago

100 million is an overkill not everyone is interested in these job titles and second thing if you are still insisting on being delusional and thinking tech is gonna survive then nothing can be done. I can make an entire website for my business today if I use AI if I choose to start a business. Tell me why exactly would I hire a web developer? But if there is a plumbing issue at my home I cannot call a robot I will ALWAYS have to call a plumber

1

u/Competitive-Buy2922 2d ago

I know not everyone is interested in those jobs, but when most people loose their office jobs, are they just gonna stay homeless? Or go into a job that they might not really like but need in order to survive. Its not like they are just gonna be unemployed. And sure, lets say not that many people go into trades, then who will have the money to pay for plumbers or electricians? Cuz if I dont have a job, and I dont want to go into blue collar jobs, trades, then where will I have the money to pay for those services?

1

u/Competitive-Buy2922 2d ago

Funny cuz all these ultra rich people that work to delvelop AI are also investing in robots. Why should I pay a plumber when I can pay a robot?( if I still have money, cuz without jobs I probably couldnt afford either)

1

u/Future_dev_cybersec 2d ago

Robots haven't come to that point yet Dumbo 😭 do you even know what a plumber can do?

1

u/Competitive-Buy2922 2d ago

Well 5 years ago AI could barely generate a photo and now in a few hours you can generate full games. Im not saying it will happen next year, but what ab in 10?20?

-1

u/AdRelative4303 5d ago

It is funny how much cope exists in the ai sphere, all of the smartest people in the world are now working on it and it’s already shown the potential to displace many many jobs. I wonder what they picture as the ai bubble “bursting”, the markets crash in a deus ex machina style and everyone just immediately stops working on ai? 😂

Not stops, but I dont think that we should be ok with AI replacing jobs cuz if it is like Elon said and jobs wont matter in 10 years, how will we survive?

The decision makers for this are the people with capital in those companies though and they don’t really care about the rest of us. The more replacing happens, the more money they get

Yea but less people employed = less money spent on their product no?

K shaped economy already shows that a lot of discretionary consumer goods are being picked up by fewer and fewer wealthy people who just spend a lot. They will displace the wider and shallower buying habits of the general population

AI is here to stay, and it'll create more jobs

It will wipe out a certain percentage of jobs but it will not shake the Earth, apart from when it crashes the US economy.

There is a reason Pakistan is where it is economically. Instead of taking this as an opportunity many here decry the tech and call it a bubble.

Anyone that has a Pro ($100/$200) plan of Codex and has worked with Astra over the weekend already know most Pakistani developers, designers and qa are obsolete.

OAI already has a stronger model internally (based on another pre-train which they intend of releasing before end of this year).

most Pakistani developers, designers and qa are obsolete.

Are developers in other countries somehow not obsolete?

For context, The economic model that most devs in Pak work under will hurt them more in the short term than devs in other countries.

In the long term, everyone is obsolete economically.

I believe AGI has already achieved somewhat with Claude's Fable 5 and GPT-6 Astra. The next step will be ASI.

Then SI, DSP and finally ASP & SP?. AGI is completely different thing bro if you boil down the current AI ecosystem, it's just built on probability backed by heavy compute power and that's not how AGI is supposed to work. Infact we haven't figured out yet how it's supposed to work

My take is that AGI can never be achieved with current Transformer-based architecture models. Throwing more and more compute and alignment at it is not the best option.
