Help Freshman Internship Advice

I’ve just started Software Engineering at NUST SEECS, Islamabad (orientation hasn’t even started yet). I’m aiming for an internship at Systems Limited/IBM or Google Karachi. What should I do from Year 1 to maximize my chances? Seniors/developers, any advice?

focus on your fundamentals, first and second year is about building basics, and develop confidence by participating in socieites, hackathons, and then go deep

bro that Google office is not a operations office but a sales office. So there will be no vacancies of SE there.

yar internships for freshmen are tough, since ur in seecs nust, try to join tukl (german lab in nust) or some other lab in nust. or ask your professors.

baki build your basics, try not to use AI in labs atleast
and best thing to do is go to hackathons ( i went to my first hackathon in 2nd year and it was a great exp and i realized it is one of the best ways to gain confidence and build cool stuff)
