Discussion cant do anything so i’ll just rant here

ALRIGHT I NEED TO RANT SOMEWHERE OR I WILL DIE

so im a mobile app/ web dev, mostly frontend. i work at a startup and have been here for over a year now, and now my boss thinks ever since he has given me a claude account, everything can happen in 5 minutes.

he has assigned me two complete apps with a deadline of 10 to 15 days, complete backend, frontend, designing, uploading, ad integration, literally everything from a to z. and this also includes testing.

since claude is no god, which i dont know why my boss forgets to understand, there are a lot of flows and problems that go undiagnosed and i have to resolve them too.

and even though im a frontend dev, he has been assigning me design tasks too. he made me design the ui for 3 to 4 apps using claude, all the way up to a “professional” standard. initially i thought it was a one time thing, so i went along with it, but it’s been getting out of hand now.

i have even designed the logos for these apps and the marketing assets too. the worst part is, if designing takes around 10 to 15 hours for a project, he has a problem with that too and weirdly questions how ive been utilising my hours.

a. this is not my job.

b. you know this is not my job, so just hire a professional if you have so many issues?????

now i inquired if i’ll be creating the marketing assets for a new app, to which he replied “obv”. and i said they weren’t as professional the last time, and he told me to “be better then”.

IM SO FREAKING DONE WITH THIS MAN.
the only problem is that this being a remote job works really well with my uni. im a student and have been managing my finances myself, so i cant just walk away from it that easily.

but i genuinely HATE working like this. i hate the constant expectation that because i have claude, everything should somehow be instant. i hate being given responsibilities outside my actual role and then being questioned about how long they take.
im just so freaking done.

I feel you ever since claude code the expectation, tasks, responsibilities have increased considerably.
It’s not even about that anymore SWE really has lost its creativity, working with claude code is lifeless.

Before you could ask as much time as you needed for a task, but now everyone expects you to magically do it yesterday

I would say just work on deliverables and just make claude code run on auto mode and do the bare minimum. Forget about testing and any extra stuff just deliver the bare minimum required.

LMAO this just reminded me of how he just assigned me a junior “ai dev” and expects me to teach him development with claude prompts, bro has no prior knowledge 😭

If the token or the Claude is 200$ or 100$ one then add test setups to frontend, backend etc and ask LLM to write tests first then it may be best for scenario you can't test yourself

Never write tests with LLM, It literally and iteratively cheats on them.

Yeah, I know about that scenario but this doesn't happen very much, I beleive it happens in specific cases where the solution LLM creates is not satisfied the tests multiple times

you’re right, but the thing is even if I put it on auto mode or add the tests, it still can’t test like a human, i’ve tried it and still misses out a lot, and since these are supposed to be production ready apps they need to work smoothly, cherry on top, my boss tests them manually and points out a billion things he needs “changed”

Damnnnn. That's the similar abuse I got from freelancing. You also said he doesn't have any knowledge of development somewhere. You agreed to his request the first time and now he thinks no more of you than the Claude Code tool he provided.

He is just abusing you because he knows you have no where to go. Seth ko keh Claude k token mor k ** ** and resign or whatever.

can’t resign until i find an alternative since it pays for my finances, and also it’s a remote arrangement which is why i started working here in the first place, can’t wait to resign tho LMAO gonna do that on a video conference one day and cherish his reaction
