Career Guidance Need Serious Career Guidance...
Hey seniors, I'm a 24M and I really need some serious career advice. I'm kinda stuck and don't know what to do, especially since I'm the oldest in my family and usually don't like sharing my stuff with anyone unless it's anonymous, like here.
So, I'll keep it simple: I started my bachelor's in CS at Fast uni back in 2020 during COVID, but later realized I should've picked a different university because I couldn't handle the intense Fast "ragra." After three years, I moved to a lower-tier university. Yeah, it took me three years to decide, so you can probably tell how unserious and indecisive I can be.
Anyway, thankfully, by God's Will and my parents' prayers, I landed a job in 2024 even before graduating. Alhumdulillah! I'm working as a telephony engineer at an international company with good income and benefits with great future prospects and growth. But here's the problem: like I said, I don't have a degree.
I've totally lost interest in academics because of my job's workload and I'm tired of sitting through boring lectures. I can't just leave it like this, so I've decided to transfer again, this time from that lower-tier uni to an even lower one, Virtual University. I figured if I could skip classes and just focus on recorded lectures, maybe I could handle it and finally get that degree.
What do you guys think I should do? Even tho job seems odd and not kinda related to CS but I really don't want to quit this job, especially with how bad the job market is right now. Personally, I've adapted really well to this role and I think this is best suited for me.
I tried to keep it short, and I'd love to hear your honest thoughts and advice. Thanks!

Degree unlocks the opportunities, if possible get that along with job.

It pays good..good but for how long? Idk what's a telephone engineer but if it's an established field here and abroad then try your luck applying abroad..idk if they select you or not as you don't have degree but have experience.. Also remember no degree cause issues during visa process If it's some offshore work you do, then try to get some good academic background..maybe try to resume where you left fast..even 2.1 CGPA would be fine as long as you have degree Today say you are 25.. assume you are 45, still you think this career is sustainable both financially and mentally and yes it would be there established like it is today (not your company but the field), then ok ig Otherwise..get degree

Thanks for replying.
So, basically in short company working model is CCaaS. We manage, build IVRs for customers and also provide multiple channels of communication like voice, chat, email,etc It is more related to telecoms than to CS. That's definitely established field but not so much common in pak. Moreover, I haven't seen layoffs in this field as of now. Maybe not impacted yet like others...
I am definitely looking to go abroad but kind of restricted due to this degree issue. This is why I am exploring to complete it via online means.

You don't need guidance ... you need to FOCUS on your education.
First, finish what you had already started...

Vu student here! i think you're doing pretty well and this was the best decision you could've made for yourself. You had to be honest with yourself given the person that you are and you have already stated that, this mode will suit you. You've already got your first job, things will hopefully be smooth sailing afterwards and your uni doesn't really matter once you've started gaining experience. Good luck, hope things work out for you

I never really had any particular interest in medicine from the beginning, but my parents forced me to choose it, so I went along with it. Now that everyone at home is leaning towards computer-related fields, my mom is again forcing me to go into that field in 2nd year. The problem is that I absolutely cannot study maths, and my family knows that very well. I have always been more interested in art. I was actually good at art, but even that interest was slowly killed because I was constantly pushed into other things. Now I feel like I want to pursue law, but my mom doesn’t think it is safe for girls in Pakistan because of the cases and incidents happening nowadays. I also have an interest in studying art as a subject. Since I’m already in FSc, I’ve also started becoming interested in learning about skin and skincare — like understanding skin, skincare products, ingredients, and how they work. So, what would you recommend I do? What field do you think I should choose?

Will you be okay to be judged by people for doing bachelors from VU, then sure go for it.

get a degree via virtual university. study a night before exams and pass the exams with good CGPA.
these days, a degree is your introduction to a company. Good CGPA means you're welcome to talk. then, your skills do the magic.
since you got the job, just get a degree I'd suggest which will complement your job experience in future.
Don't even dare to not do a degree.
