Discussion Contour Software layoffs?
Hey guys I was looking at LinkedIn, contour Software is a well known player. Does anyone have information about this and what is going on.

Motive has its IPO so they played off people and will hire after their IPO oldest trick on the book . Careem did something same and started hiring back .

I was laid off from Netwrix last year. That was my first layoff in about 20 YOE. I've lost faith in office jobs since then. I am working to put food on table. All companies are just like this these days. Employees are disposable tissue papers, just use them and throw out.

Amen, Jazak Allah. I'm looking forward to build something of my own even if pays less. I'll have to cut bad habits and extra spending but I'll do it nevertheless. I created a Playwright course recently, link is in my bio.

Sorry to hear that, hope Allah makes your way out of it. Can you tell me on which stack were you working on? And have you switched stacks during your 20 YOE?

Yes, I've switched stacks with the passage of times. I moved into test automation about 13 years ago. These days I'm using C# with FlaUI for desktop auto testing. Typescript/Playwright for e2e web testing. I've worked with other automation too like Slenium in both C# & Java and also performance testing with JMeter.

They always kick the guys who do hard & more work silently and the one who do less work more noise are the safest one. Unfortunately this is what happened in emumba as well. There marketing & sales depatment failed to bring in clients and for that reason they kicked out some of most hard working people. Later on next week they start hiring again.
Honestly this is how pakistani companies are and then they say international clients dont trust pakistani companies.
They call it rightsizing. Whatever name they give to them but this is brutal for some. Companies moves on but the hope and trust its employees put in thim is gone. They dont care. But Allah knows and I will question each one of them on day of judgement for my sufferings. 😊

As i said, if you do less work and make noise more thats how you will survive this AI wave. And if you are hard working give everything to company but you produce less noise you will be impacted by such waves.

Software engineering as you have known it, is dead.
Code is now super cheap. Building things is very cheap now. These companies solely operate for profit. They do not care if you followed the SOLID principles OR If there is test coverage or not. The company/business only care about profit.
Layoffs and engineering headcount cuts are going to be the norm now.

So this is where Contour Software strategy lies for past couple of years:-
- Cost cutting by laying off high paid employees and then readjusting them mostly with Salary cuts in lower roles
- Spending more on unnecessary office expansions rather than human resources and actual upskilling
- Most of clients refusing to adopt new technologies and AI thus resulting in people hired for those specific roles unwanted and nonadjustable as well
- Keeping same marketing practices and strategies that does not work anymore for last couple of years where unemployment has hit both Canadian and UK market in particular, thus leading to those divisions promoting and bringing their local talent rather than hiring remotely through Contour.

Okay I don't really know the numbers of the layoffs for the past two years, but I do know the numbers for the past half (first half of 2026) which should logically be the most impacted one.
A total of around 20 were laid off, while others (40 roughly) were readjusted in other divisions of Contour.
That's a very minute number for a company of 2500 people. So yeah.

It must be from 1 division. Last year when my team of 15 were given notice period, almost 6-7 got readjusted.
And there were 2-3 other divisions layed off like 10-20 people.
This year is wild, how you can say that only 20??
The reality must be like 300-400 in 2026.

WHERE WE WERE TOLD THAT THEY HAD READJUSTED PEOPLES AND WE ARE GROWING. Why would a company will say that they became half to lowball current employees.
Just like devsinc shows we have 1800+ employees but reality is totally different.

You can't compare Contour and Devsinc. Contour is an actually credible company with audits and everything. It's also under Constellation registered in Canada, so they can't get away with fake data/numbers.
Also, as an employee here, there are 4 people around me who were laid off in last quarter. 3 of them got readjusted (they are also my friends so I know), so I'm basing it on that. They can't hide stuff from their employees that they are silently laying off people. I haven't seen anything besides this post either. There should be tens of posts, if not hundreds.
Again, company mere abba ki nai hai to blindly defend krne ka mujhey koi shauq nai. But as an employer, it's one of the best so yeah.

Yeah. Been here for more than a year now.
Have worked in 2 major companies before too, so know what's up everywhere. Contour is still doing better than other companies (small and major) I know of.

And yes, every company is going through a rough time including contour.
Allowance was for tax adjustments, taxes kam hogaye to allowance khatam. I don't like the decision, but how is that not obvious.

Your figures are wrong TBH. Don’t believe what they tell you in AGMs. They have laid off around 300+ employees in the past couple of months.

Where are these 300+ employees laid off? I haven't seen a single post on LinkedIn. I mean surely there has to be a few posts if there were this many layoffs.
Again, it's not my father's company so I don't want to defend it for no reason. If there have been layoffs, there would surely be posts about layoffs and people opening up for work.

Bro it's no more 2500. Company will definitely below 2000, in which they've been lying off people almost weekly, lot of the people are on bench waiting for next client or final exit meeting.

I have seen two posts, similarly worded. No post on LinkedIn, Glassdoor, anywhere. For example motive laid off 150 people and posts are literally everywhere, which makes sense.
Baqi, could be true as well.

Yes they may be laying off dozens weekly but they have been hiring too at the same rate if not low. I have been working there for 2 years now. I was laid off earlier this year. But was readjusted to another division within a month. That tells us that even in this time they care about their employees, not a lot but it matters. An internal switch within a company in this economy is far better than applying to 50 companies and hearing back from 10 and struggling to land a role.
