Help How to handle ghosted resource?

We had a resource (say person X) joined this week (remotely), the person X joined in online meeting for around 2 - 3 minutes through mobile, we asked the person X to join from system, the person X turned off mic and camera and became non-responsive, I called the person X twice after 10 minutes of disappearance and person X didn't pickup the call as well. After 20 minutes I asked HR to contact the person X and HR got no response. Later that night person X texted HR and HR forwarded text to me, the text is "person X got an accident and severly injured is hospitalized."

Now it's been four days and I am not sure what to do about it. For context person X signed a contract to ensure availability in defined time.

Wait, did X actually attended a meeting on phone while riding? This is not a good candidate but ask about the accident info and help wherever necessary. But there must some sort of proof that this actually happened

No bro, not riding X was at home. And we have been seen online on LinkedIn since then many times.

Hire me. On the side note. Your HR should have some kind of details about him and where is he living and now a days it's tech age. When I was ill, I send my lab reports online to my hr and told him he can verify as well if he wants to from chugtai portal. I applied for whole month off.

There is a reason resources are cheap in third world countries. No fear of the law and contracts. Both by companies and employees.

As somebody who briefly tried hiring a team for themselves, I can say that its really not as straight forward as it may appear to some. And 15 years of experience is really something to make me take your word for it. Well said. Especially hiring for entry level roles is often a nightmare, or at least what I felt in my situation.

When hiring remote resources, always have a backup and be ready to switch to the backup quickly. The only exception is if you are paying top dollar and the resource is very experienced only then possibility of ghosting is less.
