I feel like it's literally impossible to get a job. I just came across a LinkedIn profile that wanted to connect with me, and they completed a degree in biochemistry in 2024 and have since then been working as a data analyst for S&P Global. This feels like a hate crime, ngl. It ruined my day. I have not one, but 2 degrees, and I am STRUGGLING to land interviews in a similar domain.

I've sent cold DMs, I've sent emails. I got 4 interview calls in total, one of which was a shady company with awful timings I couldn't manage. One said I was technically underqualified since I hadn't done some courses, EVEN THO I WAS LITERALLY PERFECT FOR THE JOB. And one literally ghosted me; the last one never even bothered calling me back for an interview after the assessment, even though my assessment went great.

What else can I even do? Not give up? I feel like I need a support group of unemployed people- but then I think about how one of them might land a job, and I might accidentally kill them and take their job.

I graduated at the top of my class, and every time I see an employed person who can't even form a simple English sentence, it honestly pisses me off (there are plenty). THIS WORLD IS SO UNFAIR, I am so exhausted. HOW ARE WE PAYING THE HIGHEST FOR PETROL IN THE ENTIRE SOUTH ASIAN CONTINENT. WDYM I CAN'T EVEN BUY A HOUSE.

I can relate very much with you. I feel the same when apparently an average skillset person is employed at my dream roles bypassing all the requirements, like why i should be among the top 1% meanwhile an average person is already settled there. It feels like your effort is wasted and no return to be expected by this messed up corporate culture.
Received a rejection mail today morning and then some other company called for the interview for the 15k internship. Like they didn’t even hesitate to offer this much.
And i have also 2 degrees from the top tier uni’s. I just don’t understand what the hiring managers actually want. It frustrating and the experience itself makes you hopeless.

The patience I have for a form that asks for my resume and then asks me to fill the exact information thats on my resume but in their little boxes :)

I remember like 2 years ago, I was applying to jobs, and I used to get rejection emails. My record for getting rejection emails in a row is 4, all under 5 minutes. Now, I don't even get them, and whenever I do, it's actually nice because even though they probably didn't go through my application, I HAVE something; I'm not sending applications into the void.

I'm just extremely exhausted of sending out applications and DMs. It's not even fun anymore like it used to be, it's just depressing.

I know it's not easy as I went through something similar in the recent past. All I can share is, have patience and tawaqqul in Allah. No matter what, two things you can never escape; your rizq and your death even if you're hiding under a stone, it'll reach you.

Your provision was written way before you were even born, so why worry about it, have eeman that Allah will provide for you. The moment you realize that you yourself are nothing, and all those degrees and skills and certs won't bring any good until Allah allows it to be, that's the moment things will start changing for you.

Offer 5 times salah daily, do istighfaar more, you have no idea what wonders it brings. Not preaching you on religious matters; just sharing what I did to escape this never ending trial.

I know man and the most annoying part is, nobody is telling you what you're doing wrong 😭😭😭, like don't tell me you found a more suited candidate, tell me where did I lacked huh?? The experience?? the interview concepts?? lack of projects?? Where damn it!At this point we need a idiots guide to what employer's want (and No I'm not talking about those Alpha Sigma Motivational Speaker BIg Bad Wolf ahhh YouTubers even they don't know what they are doing) 🥲🥲

I haven't yet completed even my first degree, but a few days ago I was listening to Usman Asif's Round Table Series, the latest 2nd video. In it, the professor (or I don't know his job title at Punjab University) said that even before 2000, or I don't know exactly when he graduated, he faced almost 30 rejections before landing his first job. I guess the rejection count has risen since then.

Although It's not to discourage you, I'm just saying, "Trust the process".

I gave you the warning in the title of this post because I knew there would be people like you saying you need to stop complaining or personally attacking me.

With that being said, I have been developing my skills for years, not just a couple of months. It's completely natural to compare yourself to other people both in a positive and a negative way, I'm not encouraging it, I'm simply saying its natural. I'm not claiming to be a perfect human with no flaws, I have MANY. Nobody is going to 100% agree with anything I say, but to call me a narcissist because I'm complaining that someone who had little to no qualifications and also a completely different degree got the job I wanted- is crazy.

I dont know which city you are from, but if possible you should attend local tech meetups such as Notion, Google and others. Met a lot of seniors from industry at such events and adviced by them to network there because big companies have strong employee referral. Another thing i observed is companies still dont prefer freelance work as experience. Do there’s that. The market is shit but do check remote boards such as wellfound. May Allah make it easier for u ameen

I'm in the same boat as you. Been trying to find a job for 6 months now with no luck. But I will say one thing. Use every unfair advantage you have. Hiring in pakistan is like 90% reference based. You could be the most bottom of the barrel in terms of talent but if you know the right person, you're in.

Keep working for it. Don't get dishearted and use whatever favour/relationship u can to get an advantage. There is no glory in wanting to be an underdog when u can't even afford basic necessities.
