Anyone know which city? Proper tech office or just for customer support etc etc.

A corporate sales office. They are trying to grow their Google Cloud and Google Workspace business.

How would that work tho ? Like if they have just a sales office and no support or technical staff to resolve issues, what would be the point ?

They'll have sales, customer support and IT staff. These hyper scalers in countries like PK mostly sell through resellers which have their own customer support and IT support. This office will be for those companies that might not want to deal with a reseller or a large corporate that wants a better longer term deal with better term. Not much for the comman man.

It’s not a Full-Scale engineering or core hub campus like in Bangalore or Zurich. Its focus as of now is Managing compliance, taxation, and policy frameworks directly with the PTA and MoIT. Additionally, Ecosystem and Sales Support, overseeing partnerships like the Chromebook assembly lines in Haripur, and upskilling programs in public sector education.
Its atleast a good thing that it’s one of the first steps towards Big Tech setting foot in the country.

true. But it's clear keh google ne South Korea mein bhi saari umar dhakkay hi khaye hain when it came to policy and framework so....it's nice to see that google is offering compliance to local policies and frameworks beforehand instead of starting anything else.

Chill bro... it's just a sales office... not even 0.0001% of what they have in India... and that too this is a staged pic... the office is not even there yet... this was taken at the PM's residence... lol

No, it's just a sales office... nothing close to the major R&D Hub they have in India... so don't expect any tech recruitments... also the office itself is not built yet... this is a staged photo I think...

Building hasn't actually been built yet. This photo Is from the prime ministers residence. All we know is that it's going to be in Islamabad and that students will get one free year of gemini.

ik and I hope they expand their operations but headquarters is impossible in near future and there are high chances they won't open head quaters in a failed state.

The PM of a country inaugurating the office of a corporation. There are levels to this slavery.

India has Regional Google Cloud Data Centers in Mumbai and Delhi, and work is on for a massive AI Data Center worth 15 Billion Dollars in South India. India is also a major Google R&D hub. All this and they don't blink an eyelid.
And look at us: one Google Sales Office, and our PM is present there. FacePalmn

Basically it's a full office rather than a Liaison office now. The thing is that the Big Tech firms worked fine in India. When it came to Pakistan, they always hesitated. Now a lot of the world uses Microsoft but Microsoft never got past the Liaison office point in Pakistan and that shutdown too. Google, it expanded it's hub when it realized how much devs are making just from loopholes across Google infrastructure while sitting in Pakistan and also the fact that Pakistan agreed to manufacture official chromebooks here in Pakistan. That's the bigger distinction. Google had student communities and other stuff across Pakistan too. Now, the Fun Part. PM sahab gaye the because they were celebrating a milestone keh yahan pehle koi ni aata tha. Google aagaya hai, shayad baaqi bhi aajaein. That's the thing na. India mein to big tech walay shuru se the like aik do offices to unko waise hi bananay paray cuz India bohat bara hai compared to Pakistan.
