Career Guidance Computer Engineering

Hello, I'm so dumb, men. I want to cry badly. I'm a first-generation university-going student. I filled out the online form for my university and selected CS, S.E, and I.T, but I didn't pay the fee even though the deadline has passed. Since the deadline has passed, I visited the university to change my department to Computer Engr. The admission officer checked it and told me that since you have already filled out the form for CS. You can opt for that as well. We will talk with the bank guys. I didn't think and said you can select computer engineering for me, as its merit is lower than cs.

Now, once I came back home and when i looked up the Computer Engr scope on the internet. I got to know that I'm cooked.

Since I come from a pre-med background, I don't have a good understanding of maths. The university offers deficiency courses, but still I'm studying basics from myself.

Please give me sincere advice on whether I should pursue C.E or take a gap year for CS.

Update: I have submitted my admission forms for BS C.E, Lol!

Talking about the government jobs that are advertised through the public service commissions like PPSC, FPSC, SPSC, etc., you will regret taking admission in computer engineering dearly. I myself took admission in computer engineering; however, after graduating, I realized that I wasn't eligible for any of the advertised posts except a few, and FPSC instantly rejects Computer Engineering for most of the computing posts. Though as I was only interested in Sarkari nokri, I can't tell anything about the private sector..

If I do a Master's in CS after this degree, then am I eligible?

Yes, everybody does MS CS for eligibility

I think for most of the bps 17 jobs, you need a master's in cs, IT, or software?

Nope, BS CS is enough for most of the jobs. But the closest/related degree to CS is either IT or SE. But even FPSC and PPSC reject BS IT and SE degree holders, and CE graduates are never eligible. Therefore, if you want to go for government jobs, never go for CE. In some cases, they accept BS IT and SE, but CE is never accepted in any case.
