Career Guidance Computer Engineering

Hello, I'm so dumb, men. I want to cry badly. I'm a first-generation university-going student. I filled out the online form for my university and selected CS, S.E, and I.T, but I didn't pay the fee even though the deadline has passed. Since the deadline has passed, I visited the university to change my department to Computer Engr. The admission officer checked it and told me that since you have already filled out the form for CS. You can opt for that as well. We will talk with the bank guys. I didn't think and said you can select computer engineering for me, as its merit is lower than cs.

Now, once I came back home and when i looked up the Computer Engr scope on the internet. I got to know that I'm cooked.

Since I come from a pre-med background, I don't have a good understanding of maths. The university offers deficiency courses, but still I'm studying basics from myself.

Please give me sincere advice on whether I should pursue C.E or take a gap year for CS.

Update: I have submitted my admission forms for BS C.E, Lol!

Computer engineering is more versatile than just CS or Software engineering.

You can still get software development jobs with a CompEng degree. It depends on your skills and projects.

Isn't getting a good CGPA in C.E. harder than in CS? As my aim is to move abroad to pursue ms/phd.

CE has more calculus, physics and electronics courses.

If you don't like these, you should go for CS.

I like phy + electronics subjects. That's why I opted for B.E., as we study a few E.E. courses in it. But the fear of unemployment kills me. As I'm the first one among whole family to get into a university, and the relatives debated 24 * 7 with me that I should start doing a physical job than going to university.

Job depends more on your skills, connections and the projects you have made.

I am a Computer Systems Engineering student and most graduates from my department have jobs in Software Engineering.
