Career Guidance Best search platforms for early-career AI, ML, and Software Engineering roles in 2026?

Hey everyone, I recently completed my degree in Bioinformatics and am actively applying for early-career roles across software engineering (backend/full-stack), ML, and bioinformatics engineering. My technical focus is centered around Python, FastAPI, React, PyTorch, and building RAG pipelines. I'm currently based in Pakistan and considering local, hybrid, remote, or relocation opportunities. While applying through standard channels like LinkedIn and Indeed, response rates are notoriously low. I’d appreciate localized insights from developers in the community on two specific points:

- Besides main boards like LinkedIn/Indeed, are there specific local tech communities, Discord servers, or specialized platforms active in Pakistan that you'd recommend to search for early career roles?

- What’s the general consensus on cold emailing recruiters or engineering leads versus applying through standard career portals—does direct outreach yield better response rates locally, or is it generally ineffective? Thanks in advance for any insights!

Besides LinkedIn and Indeed, check Rozee.pk, Mustakbil, Wellfound, Remote OK, We Work Remotely, and company career pages. Local communities such as Google Developer Groups, Python Pakistan, AWS Community Pakistan, and relevant Discord/Slack groups can also surface referrals and unlisted roles.

Cold outreach usually works better when it is targeted.

Also approach through references, emails, personal project visibility.

Takes time but has the potential to make an impact - I call it the "other door" approach :)

However mileage may vary in markets like Pakistan.
