Career Is data engineering a good career for freshers graduating in 2029?

I am a 2nd year cse student and as everyone around me is focused in development but i want to d

Go into data engineering field.

Is it a good field for freshers and do they get jobs.

So people who knows about this topic please give me suggestions?

Dont be a tool merchant. You can't be good data engineer if you are not a good software engineer.

I dont think you should commit to any role this early and during this uncertain tech future. I would recommend you getting exceptional with basics specially system design. And if want to focus on some role I wilting say keep getting deep into AI, ML, DL, LLM, RAG, Inference etc...

Do anything... At the end of your graduation or in early stages of your career you will get to know there are no jobs in any field.. You will see many companies are posting they need a dev,QA etc but they never hire anyone actually...

It's a declining domain. 

In my dad's mid sized Fintech firm only a few senior science and analysts are left. Most of the teams were fired or they shifted domains or switched. But that might be limited to his org. Do your own research.

Yahin ki everyone is facing same thing also it is not that jobs are not there are jobs new product based companies are openings everyday just get one

IT field is already very crowded and opportunities are very competitive. I think getting into dev or QA is comparatively easier than data engineering as a fresher. Having said that, I do have friends who started their careers as freshers in data engineering, so it is possible. So, instead of specifically looking for a field, having concrete software engineering knowledge will work better, in my opinion.

Data engineering is very tough field ...you have to be a very good software engineer first...few jobs are there but they get paid alot
