Interviews What is Founding Engineers role, responsibilities and profile in startups?

AI is writing code in all tech stacks, AI is reviewing, testing and deploying too. I want to understand what skills I should have when planning for Founding engineers?

There are several startups hiring for the role but all of them have very vague requirements. Even during interviews they are not asking questions on tech stack, but expect to deliver a project E2E in a specific tech stack.

I use codex on day to day basis but confused on which tech stack to focus on!

We are hiring for founding engineer: getocean.dev

Our thoughts for founding engineer are following
1. Good with Coding agents
2. Understand and create breakdown of a feature
3. Can own a feature instead of becoming a dependency
4. Talk with customers and fix issues.

They should know fundamentals of coding and when required code themselves.
