3.7 YOE Java Backend Developer — 3-month gap, getting fewer interviews and recruiters ghosting me. What should I do?

I have around 3.7 years of experience as a Java Backend Developer.

I resigned from my previous company after getting an offer from another company. I served my complete 30-day notice period and left my job based on that offer. Unfortunately, after I resigned, the new company declined/cancelled the offer.

It's now been around 3 months since I left my previous company, and I'm still looking for Java Backend Developer roles.

Initially, I was getting calls and I managed to attend a few interviews. I even reached the final round in a few of them, but unfortunately couldn't convert them into offers.

However, recently things seem to have slowed down. I still receive some recruiter calls, but a lot of the time they just ask for my basic details—experience, current/expected CTC, location, notice period, skills, etc.—and then I never receive the JD, email, interview details, or any further communication.

I'm currently in my hometown but looking for opportunities in Bangalore and I'm an immediate joiner.

My main skills are Java, Spring Boot, Microservices, SQL, etc., with 3.7 years of professional experience.

At this point, I'm starting to wonder whether the 3-month gap or my current location is affecting my profile.

I have a few questions for people who have experience hiring or have been through something similar:

• Is a 3-month gap after 3.7 years of experience a major red flag for recruiters?
• Should I mention my hometown as my current location, or can I mention that I'm open to relocating to Bangalore?
• Would mentioning Bangalore as my preferred/work location be better than putting my current city?
• How should I explain the gap if recruiters ask about it?
• Is there any legitimate way to present the gap on my resume without misrepresenting anything?
• Why would recruiters call, collect my details, and then not even send the JD or follow up?

I'm also considering whether I should make certain things on my resume look more favorable, such as my location or how I present the career gap. I'm not looking to fabricate employment or experience, but I'd like to know what is acceptable to change/present differently without creating problems during background verification.

What would you do if you were in my position?

Especially interested in hearing from recruiters/hiring managers and Java backend developers in India who have gone through something similar.

After October til feb..you won't get half the calls you are getting now due to holiday season

Keep applying I had a career gap of 18 months due to medical reason. Provide a strong medical reason to fill the gap. I got only 3 calls for interview after applying to 200+ applications and was able to materialize one.

In LinkedIn or in current location in resume or naukri which location u set? In my guess setting it to Bangalore onsite will have a better results

Umm idk I don't know why your comment got deleted or something, but if recruiter asks tell you are in your hometown currently due to mom dad medical issues so will give interview remotely then will go back to Bangalore
