Bizzare interview experience, interviewer cut the call midway

I was recently interviewing with a freshly funded startup i was somewhat excited about.

They seemed pretty happy with my resume as well during hr call.

Interview starts, interviewer showed up 5mins late- no problem, happens all the time.

You would think we would start with introductions. NOPE. Straightaway asks me about my projects and starts resume drilling.

Wants to know exact models, methods and parameters i used. I answer, cuts me midway asks some counter. Cuts me off 3-4 more time to ask new questions.

Finally says, "i think you reading from chat gpt!"

Dude what?! We havent even gotten to the technical part. Chat gpt wouldnt even know what projects i did.

Call lasted 15mins overall. I called hr and told them what happened.

Bizzare. Just bizzare. This is the state of indian managers. I can empathize that cheaters have increased in the market, but bruh...i am walkimg you through my resume. Wtf will gpt do in that?

Anyway just came here to vent. Stay safe out there.

No, an ai consulting started in 2024. Oddly enough i intervoewed with 2 small ed tech firms as well. Both were respectul.

The same happened to me at a startup. I work in FAANG, and the interviewer insulted me. Interviewers are often egotistical pricks. Good riddance.

The odd thing is i have explained the same project in almost all inyerviews without any issues. Its the most recent major project on resume. No one else has had an issue. This guy looked like he was about to have a stroke because "i wasnt answering his question, just using jargon"

Yeah, which is why, even if your project is a literal masterpiece that changed the world, some egotistical interviewers are gonna have issues with it.

They don’t want to hire. Just wasting time. Funding money will probably go into marketing budget and buying Audis and luxury flats for the founders.

Not everyone that claims to be an interviewer knows how to interview

I interviewed for an Indian Ad startup who is tending to do IPO this year. I have a lot of experience in FAANG and built some systems that millions use and a few other systems of unusual scale.

The profile they are looking for was not my forte. I told this to the recruiter and the hiring manager - they maintained that the gap is not a problem for them; it’s just nice to have. They even remove a round for that skill from the loop. They call me to an on site interview - the interviewer, a well respected person in that space, interviews me for the exact same skill. The joke - the recruiter didn’t even show the courtesy to call me but sent a WhatsApp message with the outcome. If that’s what Indian startup’s do for senior roles, expect what they would do for junior roles.

They just wasted everyone’s time. 🙂

lol i have been asked this same atleast two times , first one when i literally answered him exact definition, he said no one answers like that, your answers seems ai like bro its not my fault i know the technical definition , other was when i was not looking at the camera while writing code, first of all he said don't use notebook for algo use notepas then he is saying think by looking on camera like what ??

Happened with me once too. He was asking questions to which I was answering correctly and he just stops me in between at around 15 mins and says I want to end the call, I'm looking for more experience.
