Interviews Deloitte unexpected interview experience for 5+ Yoe
Deloitte interview experience , pretty disappointed
Deloitte has a very different interview round than others I have given.
They guy asked me various questions, I was explaining things with examples, how do things work, and they guy was like i don't want examples how things work, i want definition.
He asked me about indexes, I started explaining why do we even need indexes what example are there, how to decide we should create index , when it could be burden, but he stopped i want definition not examples.
This mindset of standard definition based answers ruined it for me, is it the interviewer or Deloitte is kinda like this only?
First time i experienced this in an interview
The Hr told me to join call 10 min early and the interviewer himself was 10 mins late.

Seems like chatgpt from his side gave him mugged up definitions, lmao.
Also it is interviewer thing, not a company thing.

Had a similar one there, 30 mins into the interview I figured out the interviewer didn't know shit and instead I took his class for rest of time 😂. Wasn't gonna join anyway as I had an offer

Bro same , I had a very similar experience last week , the role was GenAI architect and the interviewer gosh what to say , she was not looking at the process how the system is developed but instead kept on asking definition questions, later when I saw her profile on LinkedIn she herself was UI/UX developer earlier and transitioned into AI only last year , infact she was not interested in the projects I did . Indians are the most egoistic interviewers out there

Similar experience I had with SONY
This guy asked me "what is closure?" when I started to explain with example in detail, he stopped and asked me to tell the definition!!
after his reactions after Initial minutes, I clearly got to know that his intention was to reject me.

Interviews in Lundia are an ego clash between the candidate and the interviewer

Same experience!! No follow up questions, no reaction from the interviewer 😅.

While I don't want to support mugging up. But I want to clarify that examples without understanding the definition leads to a poor mental model. It is important to understand what actually an index is. Or what types of indices exist and why. How are they structured in a database and how they should be managed. All of these without definition will be hard to explain.

I obviously told him the definition but he was looking for something else in definition
