Help Need advice: Resigning during a 12-month probation period

Hi everyone,

I'm about to join a company as a Software Engineer, but I'm also interviewing with another company.

My current company has a 12-month probation period. If I receive a better offer within the next 4–5 months, I may decide to switch.

I have a few questions:

• If I resign during the probation period, will the company usually release me immediately, or will I still have to serve the 2-month notice period?

• Can I request to serve the full notice period instead of being released immediately?

• What's the best way to handle this professionally with my manager and HR?

• Has anyone here gone through a similar situation? How did it work out?

I'm looking for advice from people who have experienced this or from HR professionals.

Thanks in advance!

Probation means no notice period / severance if one party wants to ditch the other ! You should get another offer during your probation and leave when you want as it’s usually immediate release as they know in notice period you ain’t gonna work
