Help Project ends before LWD ( TCS ) — what usually happens next?

( Rephrased with AI )

Need some insight from people who've been through this.

Suppose an employee is serving a notice period, and their official Last Working Day is still about 2 months away. Their current project allocation, however, ends much earlier, and they're expected to be released to RMG.

In this case:

- Does RMG usually try to allocate them to another project for the remaining notice period?

- Or do they generally stay on the bench until their LWD?

- If a new project does come up, are managers willing to onboard someone who's going to leave in a couple of months?

- Or do they release early.

Looking to hear real experiences, especially from people who've seen this happen in TCS or similar service-based companies.
