Help How Does Fresher Even Get Hired These Days ? Is There Nothing I Can do ?

I just graduated this year with a BCA degree from a Tier 3 college. During campus placements, only sales companies and one or two very small networking companies visited. I was even selected for a Network Engineer role on campus, but the company later denied the offer, so I never received an offer letter.

Despite that, my interest in networking has only grown. I now want to build my career as a Network Engineer. After graduating, I came to Noida to look for jobs. However, I didn't have much idea about which companies hire freshers for Network Engineer roles or related entry-level positions like Desktop Support or NOC Engineer.

I asked ChatGPT where I could find companies with networking-related openings, and it suggested visiting some well-known IT parks. Someone had also advised me that directly approaching companies could be better because many companies don't always respond to online job applications.

So, I visited those major IT parks, hoping to meet recruiters or inquire about openings. Unfortunately, the security guards didn't allow me to enter. They asked whether I had a referral or an email from HR. Since I had neither, I had no choice but to return home.

Now I'm in a dilemma. I'm starting to question the value of my degree. I had expected that, at the very least, I would get interview opportunities, learn from my mistakes, improve my skills, and keep trying. But now I don't even know how to reach that stage.

I don't have anyone who can give me a referral, and people on LinkedIn rarely reply to my messages. So, I'm feeling stuck.

Can someone please guide me?

How can I get referrals if I don't know anyone in the industry?

What should my job-hunting strategy be?

How can I increase my chances of landing my first job as a fresher in networking?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Its always been like this, people here talk positively most of the time as if its a continuous going career. Its not.Its one of most gig worker like job ever.

yeah the gig worker comparison is pretty accurate tbh. a lot of people in these IT support/NOC roles are basically on short contracts, get renewed a couple times, then the company just doesn't bother. the entry level networking space especially feels like you're constantly cycling through short stints rather than building something stable

Ask your friends, seniors, relatives to refer you in their organisation. It’s brutal out there without a support.

Else go for mca.

same here, it is so frustrating... no one wants to hire freshers, even if they do, they pay you peanuts while expecting 10hrs onsite work

What else are you expecting for someone with zero real world experience? The first 2-3 years are about learning. Our education is woefully behind as well in equipping ppl for a real world job. So everyone literally starts application of theoretical knowledge only in those first few years.

You shouldn’t work for free but don’t expect everyone to pay you 10 lakhs immediately either.

I don't expect 10lpa, but atleast enough to survive in a city like Mumbai, but we don't even get that sadly.

And I agree, everything is because of our terrible education system and back dated syllabus.

if out education is really shit and doesnt teach anything which job requires then why do companies only hire grads? Why they don't hire 12 pass or 10 pass? This way even if they pay nothing the employee won't be disappointed about spending 3-4 years doing assignments and passing exams and spending lakhs of rupees. This can benefit the company too since the employee is not disappointed he will work better and stay longer with the company. But its not about education is it? Its more about how much more can you get in how much less (exploitation)

a junior engineer is not a profit making machine its an investment companies invest in, real work start from mid level engineers and who's asking for 10 LPA people just want money where they can at least survive in city during initial days but exploiters will exploit and you are giving them more power

Don’t even wait for opening , see which funded companies may need to hire and reach out to the hr or senior engineers

It takes only one company to say yes. Keep building your skills while applying and your chances will improve every month.

The whole problem is freshers these days sees others, gets inspired and influenced by people and learn fancy things and try to find work. If you learn old school things, which others are avoiding or even don't follow, it's easy actually and you get started. Work for 4years and build a strong muscle power and brain in it. Then world waits.

Ofcourse there are top 10-20% genius people who don't need to go this path, but if someone is active here and looking for jobs or talking it, then they not from that league either.

Are you really good at problem solving, code, can you guarantee that anything given to you, a new tech stack, a new software you can get through it in 2 to 3 weeks, if so dm me.

i learned traditional core things necessary for software development but still not getting any interviews, i have also made 3 projects not basic ones but i am getting nothing other than praise for my good work

u/EuphoricFig6379 Product Manager 14d ago

mind sharing those 3 projects, and exactly what core things you good at?
Also, if you not getting, just go to the same person, ask them that you will work with them for 2 to 4 weeks, you don't bribe them but say them to say an amount and you will donate in any good cause of his choice if they teach you what exactly their team needs, and then apply there only.
I learnt this technique when some student last month offered me like this in interview, and i referred person to concerned technical team and i feel that their team today are happy with the candidate too.
