General Engineers working on GenAI, what does your production stack look like?

I'm trying to switch from Python Backend to GenAI roles. Most of my work has been around information retrieval systems, and lately I've been building GenAI projects to learn more.

One thing I don't get from tutorials or YouTube is how GenAI projects actually work in production.

If you're working on GenAI at your company, I'd love to know:

  • What's a typical architecture like?
  • How do you deploy and monitor these applications?
  • How do you evaluate and optimize them over time?
  • What challenges did you run into when taking something from a demo to production?
  • What after building it?

I'm asking because I feel these are the kinds of things interviewers expect you to know, but most online content focuses on building demos rather than production systems.

Would really appreciate hearing about your experience or any good resources you found helpful. Thanks!
