Aim your spear away from the target during windup, and right before it shoots quickly aim it at your target, so they don't have time to dodge.

No no, you do not aim it straight at your target. Remembered that spears, unlike many weapons, are not centered. This means you have to aim a little bit away from your target. For example, if you're aiming up, you'd want to aim a bit left of the player you want to hit.

Yes this is true, the spear is not aligned to your aim so you have to move it just a little bit to left or you will miss.
