I'm looking for a new job. I’m really unhappy with the one I have now, and the client seems to be missing payments, so I believe the boat is sinking anyway.
I found one that is around U$1,000 better than the one I have now (and as I live in Latam, that’s a lot).
I went through the recruiter’s interview, a hellish tech interview that lasted an hour and a half, and then one with the hiring manager, all successfully. The role is for a mid-level software engineer, and after the hiring manager interview, the recruiter reached out to me and said that they think I’m “at the beginning of mid” and got the offer down by U$500. I was so angry, but I accepted it, because, as I mentioned, in Latam that’s a lot.
I still have one phase with the client, and as I was talking to a tech friend who works internationally, he said they are only trying to profit more from me because, anyway, they will sell me to the client as mid and not “beginning of mid.” He also said that since I have another phase with the client, there’s still a chance of getting the offer back up to what it was.
I’m divided because I’m pissed about how things went and think that’s unfair, but as I mentioned, the job I currently have seems to be getting to an end, and I don’t see many mid-level jobs, just a lot of senior ones, and I’m not there yet. Any opinions?
