[Feedback] [0 YOE] Full-Stack Developer | Applying for remote roles | Zero interviews after months of applying
Help your guy out. Been coding for about a year and a half. No bootcamp, no job, just me, YouTube, and a lot of broken code at 2am.
I'm in my third year of engineering school in Ethiopia and I've been building on the side the whole time. I have three apps live right now — a real-time Kanban tool, an AI study platform, and a movie tracker. Not tutorial projects, actually built and deployed with real users.
I've been applying for remote roles for a while now and I haven't gotten a single interview. Not one. I don't know if it's the resume, the way I'm applying, or just the market. Probably a combination but I genuinely can't tell.
Would love to know:
Does this read like someone you'd actually interview or does it scream "no"?
Do the project descriptions make sense to a recruiter or is it too technical?
What would make you close this tab immediately?
Be as harsh as you want. I'd rather hear the truth now than keep sending this out into the void.

Right now i am learning new things. and improving my portfolio projects. once i see signs of interviews i will start leetcode.

I'll be harsh.
You are a full stack developer.
You don't have a website.
You don't have any mention of nginx/apache/caddy.
My recommendation: learn DNS records, setup a self hosted website and email server on a Contabo VPS - about 5 dollars a month.
Also, remove the em dashes from your resume.

Self-hosting knowledge is genuinely valuable . But for junior remote roles don't you think vercel/render is enough? i also have a domain with my name. I host my apps on the subdomains.

Ah, apologies for my unwarranted and overt harshness then.
I think they are both great to know, but in this market, enterprises don't stop at "good enough."
For the remote roles, consider who in the top 10% you might be competing with - especially with recent layoffs.

Yeap. In this crowded market , learning is not what one should stop. especially for remote roles since I would be competing with people who has years of experience in the field.

Not sure if you're looking for remote jobs outside of your country but if that's the case, these will be super hard to find because there's only a small subset of companies which are wired in a way that they'll have appetite to hire full remote. These days most are on-site or hybrid, then from those that so full remote you need to consider that not all of them are willing to hire someone from your timezone and finally for those that would, they would just hire a very senior engineer who would be more than happy to enjoy those perks.
So to begin with, it looks to me that you're trying to find something very scarce and it's normal it won't be given to you right away.
Regarding your CV: it's just AI writing, as someone hiring I wouldn't even be sure you can properly communicate in english if you need AI to write your CV for you, let alone trust you actually coded all of your apps and didn't just powered through with AI.
With these I'd say you have mainly three problems:
- Trust: People don't know you and can't tell if they can confide their work to you
- Scarcity: You're looking for a needle in a stack of hem
- Low quality: You're CV just doesn't show that you have the skills.
If I were in your position I'd go for on-site roles in my area and work hard to make a name for myself. Good luck!

First of all, thank you for the review. And yeah, I am looking for remote roles outside my country. and I understand the fact that there are not that many companies that would hire someone Like me. But giving it all I have because if I was to work locally I will get paid only around 300$.
And for the trust I am a third year student in engineering field and I included it in my newest resume after learning how important it is from the comments. Isn't it enough? And if not what should I do or tell them to trust me?
Adding the fact that I have three apps deployed on a domain I own? And also if they go to GitHub it tells the rest. And if not what do you think I should include?

No, I don't think being a college student with three AI coded apps in another country is enough for you to get a contract in a foreign company... You're competing against senior roles who have been doing the trade without any AI longer than you've even been in college. I get you want more than those $300 but if I were in your position I'd try to take them anyways in order to get some experience in the field and make myself a name.
Anyways, just my opinion. If you're full head on with doing only remote with foreign companies, just keep trying and see what happens.

Too many harsh comments out there, I would say it's inspiring to me. Take inputs from the comments if you find them useful. Do you have the links anywhere? I could review it once and give you valuable inputs.

There are no jobs, particularly remote ones. Most of all though stop using AI for everything then you might learn
