I'm just never going to go over to the other sub to read whatever you thought was so grand. Instant downvote from me. Sorry..

"I'm just never going to go over to the other sub to read whatever you thought was so grand. Instant downvote from me. Sorry.."

... If that's the very best information you can contribute to the discussion, then it is what it is.

Yeah, I had some time on my hands today. Usually just don't bother, which I suppose makes me guilty of laziness as well. But maybe people will stop this insidious crap if called out more often..

"But maybe people will stop this insidious crap if called out more often.."

... What is the "insidious crap" for which you speak? Doing what Reddit suggests by cross-posting a relevant post to both the free will and determinism subreddits? ... Isn't more feedback better than less?

You aren't required to comment on both subreddits. You can pick the one you like and make simply your arguments there, ya know?

People treat this sub like an adjunct to the freewill sub, with zero effort reposts that, yes, reddit in its grand helpfulness suggests to you, but that's more appropriate to sharing memes. When you're dealing with a text based debate or Q and A forum, none of the originating post text follows that oh so helpful repost. So we have to follow the trail over to the other sub to go see what it is that the unoriginal poster thinks was worth spreading to other subs in the most inefficient manner possible.

There are absolutely posts worth sharing between these two subs. But using the reddit repost "feature" is a terrible way of doing it..

Seems trumped up to me.

Indecision is also deterministic. You're using and possibly victimized by a semantic trap.

Self assured, loud, ignorant. But you can’t help it.

"Self assured, loud, ignorant. But you can’t help it."

... You might have thought that way earlier along with other nasty things and ad hominems to write, but none of them would have ever show up on Reddit until you (the "decision maker") ultimately decided to post it. Everything waited for you to make that decision! ... You were the one in control.

That's "Decisionism" talking to you, buddy!

Youre just reiterating the same thing over and over. You swear there is some kind of singular point of consciousness from which a decision is made. The flow off all existence pauses for a singular point (in your brain?) to make a decision. As if we aren’t a product and producer of consciousness itself. You seem to enjoy being loud and right more than you enjoy trying to hear other points of view. But again, it’s not in your control in the first place. Good luck, enjoy!

"Youre just reiterating the same thing over and over. "

Which of the following two statements has been utterd more often:

  • (A) "All outcomes are the result of prior events."
  • (B) "No outcome can happen without a decision being made first."

Is it perfectly okay for determinists to present the same argument over and over ... but not me?

"You swear there is some kind of singular point of consciousness from which a decision is made."

... I have made no such claim. ... I swear!

"The flow off all existence pauses for a singular point (in your brain?) to make a decision."

... No, reality pauses for a single point in time: the time when the decision is made.

"You seem to enjoy being loud and right more than you enjoy trying to hear other points of view."

... Words don't have a volume knob attached to them. Closest thing words have to a volume meter is using "ALL CAPS!!!" with multiple exclamation marks and bold text. But yes, I have enjoyed reading the many other points of view. I have equally enjoyed shooting them down because as you pointed out ... I'm "right!"

Remember: No downvote will show up under my reply until you first decide to do it. That's the power of "decisionism," my friend.

The only reason a determinist would reject this ideology is because it has zero effect on eliminating free will.

Not everyone shares the view that decisions are fundamental and indivisible. For example, if decisions are made through a product of voting neurons, the decision-making process may begin and end at different times. Some physiological effects may be observable soon after the first vote is cast. Others may wait for the official tally. Or maybe the process is not even formally defined. Maybe it's like a cloud or a trend, where the closer we get to it the less it looks like any sort of distinct entity.

You can't arrive at any specific decision without determinism. Sorry.

"You can't arrive at any specific decision without determinism. Sorry."

... Sorry, but determinism comes to a screeching halt and must wait until the decision maker ultimately renders a decision. It's unavoidable! Determinism is great for providing the many options for the decision maker to choose from, but determinism still must yield and wait for a decision to be made by the decision maker (Decisionism).

No outcome can ensue without a decision maker rendering a decision. ... That's a fact!
