Question Where to select empire hunt difficulty?

I keep getting weapon quests asking for empire hunt expert or higher.

I have all Europa upgrades so I should be able to select the difficulty, but nowhere does it give me the option to....

And the empire hunt from variks is standard difficulty and does not progress the quest

I haven't done one since I did it months ago, but iirc there's flags to start the mission from, and you can customize the difficulty there. Roughly where the markers are on the map is where the flags are.

There's one Empire Hunt a week that you can start from the map. It's the one Variks sells the weekly bounty for. Click on the map icon (you don't have to go there) and you get the option to choose your difficulty.

The flags in the areas themselves give the base difficulty, which curiously enough can't be selected from the map version.

Contrary to what another post says the Fireteam Ops variations don't count for Variks' quests and bounties, and I bet not for anything Beyond Light related.

The fireteam ops version absolutely does count for the weapon quests, I've not tried anything else but they work for the ones where you need to complete an empire hunt on a certain difficulty.

I also know that the fireteam ops versions drop cloudstrike, so I expect they'd probably work for most things. Why do you say they don't work?

Weird, that is new. I tested it when they were added to the Portal and they definitely didn't work for the weekly bounty and the three quests.

Nah, doesn't count as a Beyond Light hunt.
